City: MASSIVE signs, MASSIVE players and Munich chants

posted on 18/07/09

Our bitter friends from the Eastlands council house have stooped to a new low by putting up billboards in the city centre aimed at taunting us United fans.

One of them features mercenary Carlos Tevez and the words “Welcome to Manchester”.

Quite a strange thing to say considering he has lived and trained in Manchester for the last two years, but you can’t really expect City to display reasonable levels of common sense and intelligence.

The stupidity doesn’t stop there though. Oh no! The image of Tevez they used is an image of him celebrating a goal for United against Wigan last season. You really could not make it up.

Tevez signTevez v Wigan

Small time

They seem to think signing our back up striker is some sort of major achievement and reason enough for a bit of gloating. I suppose it’s to be expected from a club that hasn’t challenged for a trophy for the better part of four decades. They haven’t had many reasons to taunt us over the past 30 or 40 years so they take every chance they can get.

The thing is, they don’t realize how small time it makes them look. It would be expected from the fans, the same paper airplane throwing, runway song singing, bitter scum who turn up at Eastlands dressed as blue plastic seats every week. But these are official billboards commissioned by the club itself as part of an advertising campaign.

While United are off on a tour of Asia cementing their position as arguably the biggest club in world football, the bitter blues are busy canvassing Manchester because they know that despite having billions in the bank, they still won’t fill their rented stadium week in week out.

Any reason to gloat

They really seem to think that they’ve got one over on us. They’ve spent tens of millions on a player who scored 5 league goals in 29 games last season. We spent nothing on Michael Owen who scored more goals in less games. Who got the better deal? I’ll give you a clue: It’s not City.

Here’s a reminder of what City fans were singing about Tevez last season:

“He’s neck scars proves he’s lost his head Tevez, Tevez
He’ll never have a sexy bird Tevez, Tevez
The argy twat, the ugly ****, they sewn his head on back to front
Carlos Tevez, herman munster head.”

Now they’re hailing him as one of the world’s best. It’s laughable.

  • He insulted our manager, somehow thinking that we’d take his side
  • He complained about a lack of playing time, despite making 51 appearances last season
  • He’s exposed himself as a money driven mercenary
  • He lied about his reasons for leaving
  • He tried to turn the fans against Sir Alex
  • He ’s simply not good enough and doesn’t score enough goals

We’re well shot of him.

Previous effort

Who remembers the last time they put up posters around the city? The statement on it was quickly corrected by a quick witted United fan. It didn’t exactly have the desired effect, as newspapers were busy pointing out the United fan’s addition rather than the intended message City were hoping for.

City sign

Class

In another show of class, a 200 strong group of blues were present at the council house to welcome Tevez and were heard chanting a song that ended with “he hates Munichs”.

The irony is that an ex Manchester City player also died on that fateful day in Munich. Frank Swift, a former City goalkeeper turned reporter was flying with the United squad when the disaster struck, but City fans are either too ignorant to realize this, or they simply don’t care about the death of one of their own. I wouldn’t rule out either.

  1. hmmmm…sounds like sour grapes from the MANURE contingent…

  2. We’ve not really got anything to be sour about. We’ve won the premier League for the last 3 years and won the Champions league in 2008 and got to the final again this season.

What have City done? Signed a few mercenaries and got comprehensively beaten by Orlando Pirates.

No matter how many players they sign, you can’t buy history and it takes more than 11 superstars to win trophies.

The word ‘Manchester’ is synonymous with United all around the world, always has been and always will be.

While we’re busy challenging for trophies next season, they’ll be playing in front of a half empty stadium.

  3. Wow that poster has certainly mudded the water down at the Stretford swamp. I didn’t hear the rag supporters slagging off Teves when they were chanting for Ferguson to sign him. It won’t be too long before the “council house” becomes the Royal Palace owned by the worlds richest club. And whilst we are talking money, we are cash rich and not £850k in debt like ther rags. Sorry your time has passed.

  4. When you talk about sour grapes and being bitter like you blue noses do. We would have to have something to be bitter or sour about it’s like zuco said winning the league and champions league. Three in a row and equalling Liverpool’s record of winning the league what is there to be bitter about?

  6. ”Quite a strange thing to say considering he has lived and trained in Manchester for the last two years, but you can’t really expect City to display reasonable levels of common sense and intelligence.”

Lived and trained yes, but NOT played a home game!!!!!

You call City fans bitter but this blog just shows how bitter rags fans are.

And don’t make out that you don’t like Tevez or think he is a good player because we all know he was one of your best players over the last two years but he decided to leave you. Well boo hoo

Your ground is NOT in Manchester, so I suggest you get an A-Z map!!

And for the love of god, GET A SENSE OF HUMOUR WILL YOU!!!!!

  8. “don’t make out that you don’t like Tevez or think he is a good player ”

Bega: Go and have a look on the forum and find any of my posts on Tevez from the last two years. You’ll struggle to find one that’s complimentary in nature. He’s a GOOD player but he’s not a GREAT player and certainly not worth 25-30 million pounds.

He does a lot of running and he works very hard for the cause, but there’s very little end product.

“Your ground is NOT in Manchester, so I suggest you get an A-Z map!!”

The postcode begins with M, that’s good enough for me.

  10. By putting the big billboards shows what class Man City are. No wonder when Real Madrid spend so much millions for players, not even the president of FIFA speaks anything. While City spends, all over the world is saying. Now i truly agree with it. Putting this poster doesn’t mean anything to disrespect Man United. Putting this big poster only disgrace your own club. Wanted to let the people know about this by putting so big of the poster is no use. As United fans all over the world not only will support City but hate it more and i can’t how they can win fans over with this childish acts. Show some respect for other club please.

  11. They got beaten 0-2 by the Orlando Pirates today and were in the relegation zone at christmas last season. They have all the money in the world and offer players literally stacks of cash but the top players still wont go to them for all the money in the world. They are an embarrassment.

They only thing they have going for them is that Curly Watts of Coronation Street fame (Curly Watts!!!!) is a fan. That really does make them MASSIVE.

  12. Why is it so hard for people to admit when their club have done something so obviously retarded, that there is no defending it?

Carlos Tevez has just signed for City and the club has chosen to put up bilboards of him using a picture of him scoring a goal for untied. it was a vital goal too.

Manchester City have big aspirations and the fans have every right to look forward to the future, but your executives sure have a lot to learn about class.

There is so much talk on the internet about City being a massive club and are going to be more sucessful than Manchester United.

    What?!?!

I just came from Kuala Lumpur where more than 50,000 people turned to watch United train on Friday and more than 90,000 ppl watched them play on Saturday.

How many people would turn up to watch City train?

    Honestly?

How many league titles are you going to win in the next decade?

How many players of legendary status do you have – and are recognized around the world?

Denis Law made his mark playing for United – and became Europe;s best player at united.

You have decades to go before coming close to UNited in global appeal and in terms of footballing achievement.

How many magical moments have there been at your club in the past 3 decades?

Even smaller clubs have reached cup finals wher you have not.

Apart from a youth cup, all you lot have won in 30 plus years are penalties, throw-ins and corners.

    And that’s the truth.

It will take decades to come close to achieving what Manchester united already have and that’s just achievement.

Let’s talk about players with class and charisma – you will struggle to find them. The mercanaries that are joinging you couldn’t touch Cantona, Best, Charlton, Robson, Beckham, Solskjaer, Rooney,

When the Glazers took over, the red half of manchester took to the streets.

When Thaksin bought City and then sold it to the arabs, what did you lot do?

F all. You bent over and sold your soul.

Who are the real glory hunters?

Off and on the pitch, there is nothing about man city that says anything other than a big money project without class or charisma.

At least United earned their own money.

  13. So david kennerly reckons we’re 850 THOUSAND in debt . 850K – Typical uneducated city fan . Its millions man fu*king millions we owe and I’d sooner have it that way than be the Premierships latest Whore .
Money does not buy class . Money does not buy history . Money does buy over-rated unwanted overpriced strikers . just seen Adebayor take his knickers off for you muppets today too . HAAAA .
    Hollow hollow city .

    ComeOn Owen Jul 18th, 2009 -
  14. Even the media can’t take city seriously.

And they are a bit peeved that Man City can even think about disguising their inent…

  15. Ha, ‘ComeOn Owen’ is so right, ‘David Kennerley’ thinks Man United are in £850k debt, FYI that’s £850,000, that’s less money than the club makes on selling stadium tours every day, what an uneducated eejet !

Anyway, debt means how much your ‘Owner’ has spent on the club and how much he wants of that back. City have spend +£145 Million on Transfers since Sept. 2008. Now, City’s owners are Arab’s, great people yet Greedy blokes they are. They might spend £BILLIONS on City, but trust moi, the Owners will want every single PENNY back, so as soon as City fans can say the letter ‘A’, which as far as I know, they cannot, so lets say as soon as City fans know it, Mr. Arab whatever there names are will come knocking at the door, saying ‘We Want My Money Back !’ , Then they won’t even have enough money to put up a billboard !

  16. If they think signing our back up striker who scored a pathetic 5 goals in 29 appearances is a sign of them becoming massive then they are even more deluded then the Scousers – and that’s saying something.

City can come back when they’ve won a trophy, at the moment they’re not even CHALLENGING for trophies and we’ve just won the league (the hardest league in Europe) 3 times in a row as well as getting to the Champions league final twice in a row. City aren’t even close to the CL. They’re a joke of a club who still can’t get the top players to go to them even though they have all the money in the world because top players want to go to a club where they can win trophies and play in Europe.

  17. Got to say, as a neutral, it is a good effort from City, it was ntended to wind you lot up and the job has been done.
Everyone outside of Manchester already knows City hate Man U, but I thought you didn’t care about them.
Funny thing is, this has got right under your skin.
Live in Southampton, got friends here that are reds, and a couple that are blues, they have been laughing about it and agree it is good PR from City.
Got to ask a question though, why do you refer to City as Citeh?
If that’s a pisstake of the Manc accent, then it makes you lot look like idiots and makes them seem right when they say your lot don’t come from Manchester!
Sorry to say too, but I reckon they will hit the top 4 in 2010/11, and be challenging you for trophies in the not too distant future….unlike my club!
Looking forward to next season, reckon there is added spice now!

    Hantsman Jul 19th, 2009 -
  18. Fortunately Hantsman no-one here cares what you think! How do you explain them managing to look good in your eyes when they constantly call us Rags and Munichs? You are not neutral you still hold residual grudges as proved by your presence here!

One little anomally gets me here, if City fans and the Club are using this billboard to wind us up, why did they put it in the centre of Manchester if they all to a man tell us we don’t come from Manchester? Surely it’d be better off in Leicester Square?

Or they could just be full of it?

    Manc Jul 20th, 2009 -
  19. Obviously you do care as you answered my post.
Hypocrisy from a United fan? Never!
I don’t agree with the Munich chants. What is the rags thing about and why do you find it offensive?
I don’t hold a grudge at all, especially not against you lot, felt sorry for you when you couldn’t see each other at The Dell a good few years back and had to change shirts at half-time!
Got to be said, United have consistently played the best football since the Prem started and deserve to be successful. Maybe your fans should show a little respect to other clubs.
That’s why some hate you. (me most definitely not included)
You are becoming like the Liverpool fans that think the world revolves aroud them.
You are probably right about the Leicester Sq thing, but why are you letting it get to you?
It’s a joke, take it as that.
All this proves to me is that you are starting to worry about City’s ever increasing presence in the Premier League.
It’s ok, I understand that, Liverpool Arsenal and Chelsea are worrying too.
Must be hard though, being so far in debt while they have so much money.
P.S. not interested in any reply that starts with: what have they ever won….. at least the money we spent is ours and self made….. they will always be in our shadow…… they will never be as big as us……
It just makes you look childish and foolish.
    Ciao!
