Manchester United have launched a bid to try and sign Valencia defender Miguel, according to reports in Spain.

Los Ches are going through a major financial crisis and a number of players are tipped to move on, including the right back.

Portugal international Miguel has been an impressive figure for Valencia, having risen to prominence at Euro 2004, and it is being claimed talks between United and the player’s agent Paulo Barbosa are believed to have started.

Miguel is under contract until 2012 and his buy-out clause is believed to be set at £12 million.

The full back has spoken of his determination to progress his career and has admitted he would be ready to be move on.

“I am ambitious and if a good proposition is made, anything is possible,” Miguel said.

“The decision depends on Valencia.

“If the club accept my sale, no problems, and if the new (Valencia) coach relies on me, I stay.”

Miguel could be the second Portugal international right back to move to The Premier League in a short space of time, following Chelsea's capture of Jose Bosingwa.
