Think it was an overall close and balanced game. No doubt we should have buried the game if not for the glaring misses by Tevez, Carrick and Giggs but Chelski also hit the woodwork twice so that sort of balanced things up a bit.
I really thought that was it when Ronaldo took a bit too long to hit the ball and eventually saved by Cech, until Terry slipped unexpectedly and fluffed his too. Yes, I did say my prayers throughout the penalty shootout and the rest was history when VDS inevitably saved Anelka's. Seems fate is indeed in our favour for it could have so easily gone the other way against us.
So Champions of Europe once again for the third time after nine years of wilderness, near misses and not-so-near misses. How sweet. |
