Juande Ramos believes that Manchester United have emerged as the greatest English team of their generation.
The Spanish coach takes his Spurs side into battle against them today, admitting that the opposition are the model on which he wants to base his future Premier League plans.
"United are a great team, and I don't use that term loosely," he said.
"You could say in every country there is one team who are maybe a pip above the others and United at the moment in England are that team.
"With my experience with Sevilla, we were frequently in close contact with Real Madrid and Barcelona and there was always one or the other of those who were in the best position.
"United are that team in England now.
"They're probably the best team in the country and the one to beat. They are the side you judge your own team against."
