tour de france

love watching this every year.

but dont understand the rules

how can our rider win 2 stages but still be mid table

how come the leader doesnt always win the stages.

why does the leading back always get the same time.

wht not make it simple heres the start theres the route first one to paris wins

Shouldn't this be in the 'All Other Sports' section? I don't follow cycling personally...

I used to enjoy it a bit and watched it the odd in France, but its rife with drugs
and cheaters so its **** really.

There are loads of stages and a rider could win a few but fall way back in other
stages and lose loads of time.
The leading pack gets the same time cos they cant be bothered giving
individual times I think. Each group gets given the same times, so if 10 finish
pretty much together (no gaps) they get the same time......

Your last idea would make it simpler and more enjoyable I think

It's about 5,000 kms ...

So you can't say "Off you go" ...

They time them all on each stage ...

Then add the times up ....

The quickest wins ...

You could actually win this race without finishing first at all ...

If you win a stage, you'll get a little time benefit. Plane stages are about nothing, because the whole pack usually comes together to the final city.

So...the whole Tour is usually decided in the mountains.

It would be pretty chaotic, because you simply cannot control every single cyclist. They would cheat (going by car, using shortcuts..whatever) and it would not be possible for sponsors to advertise within the frame of the TdF.

But there are these non-stop contests. I know one that takes place in the New Zealand - Every team (4-persons) only know where the finish and the checkpoints are and it's up to them how they manage to make it through the wilderness. - several years ago I believe the best team's time was about 250 hours.

I hear a fair few lads have been banned already, including 2 stage winners.
Wtf do they expect ffs? NOT to get a **** test after flying through a course.

Idiots, the sport has been ruined by all these drug cheats. They are ALL at it,
its a joke.

i followed it for the last few years but ive not be able to this year due to itv not showing it on itv 1 even late at nite although i did hear that theres a few blokes already being caught and one bloke who was making people look silly on the hills as if he was superhuman :| best way to sort it let them take what they like for a few reasons

1. i bet you wudnt get as many people cheating
2. youd get some freakly fast sprits and hill climbs
3. it wud be class to watch it wud be like moto gp but on push bikes

and a new concept dont have a route give them sat nav or a woman reading the map lol (no offence any women)

It's the same issue every year. They are told that the "improved" EPO won't be recognized as a doping, so the use it at ease.

But the most awful thing is that even one of the youngers and most "talented" (if this word exists in cycling) cyclists - Riccardo Riccò (24 years, 2nd on Giro 2008) - was caught red handed! HE was believed to raise the cycling from the dope years.

Cyclists - get lost!
