This is'nt posted to try and drum up some political debate, you either want to sign it or not. The more sigs the better.

You may have seen the press coverage of hearses stuck in traffic, carrying the bodies of those KIA, and noticed how badly this compared with the reception in Canada and other NATO countries for similar casualties.

Sign the No 10 petition, and perhaps people will take notice.

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/escortforheroes/

The wording of the petition is:

"The bodies of British servicemen and women killed overseas are flown to RAF Lyneham.

The hearses carrying the bodies receive no special escort once they leave the county of Wiltshire, normally bound for the mortuary at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

It is an insult to these brave people and their families that their hearses should travel un-escorted on their journey through the country that these men and women served and died for.

The signatories to this petition request that the Ministry of Defence, in co-ordination with local Chief Constables, arrange for a formal escort for the bodies of all those Servicemen and women, unless the next-of-kin request otherwise."

it seems to take all day to open site . maybe they do not want you to sign it ?

so true that our armed forces are treated worse than jailed kiddy fiddlers in how they are housed and fed while alive and when they die they have served there purpose .

this government is a total disgrace and should hang its head in shame . they lurch from muck up to muck up ruining our great country with p.c policies that are doomed to fail . batter an old lady senseless and get community service at worst . leave a wheely bin lid open 4 inches get fined dont pay fine go to jail .

I'm not British citizen so they
wont let me sign it ...

I did try though ... ;)

I do find it incredible people
have a need to open petitions
like this.

How embarassing for The MOD
to overlook something so simple,
so easy, so basic but which would
make a world of difference to the
friends and families of those who
died to protect us all.

I'm sure if it was a Field Marshall
or a big shot General coming here
for a state visit or whatever they call it
they would have the cars and the
guards of honour all ready and
waiting to whisk these guys off to
wherever they wish to go.

But if you're dead, who cares, your
not worth anything now are you ?

It makes me wonder how Britain
can win a war if the MOD struggle
with such basics.

Just look at how the honoured dead go home to the USA; nobody in this socialist hell hole care.

Couldn't agree more RD.
As haggler says " this government is a total disgrace and should hang its head in shame ".

And as Carly says " something so simple,
so easy, so basic but which would
make a world of difference to the
friends and families of those who
died to protect us all".

Thanks anyone who signs.

PS, Carly you can sign if you want to, you don't have to be a citizen.
You must be a British citizen or resident to sign the petition.
