Today its 22 years ago the Chernobyl disaster when the nuclear reactor in the Ukraine city of Chernobyl exploded.
Now the Belarussian president Lukashenko wants to send young people to the Belarussian area, at the Ukraine border to start up cities and villages where he can build factories and agriculture to feed the rest of the country. These areas were classified as unfit for habitation due to the high radiation.
This is nothing but sending young people to a life in misery living in unhealthy areas.
If they protest they will be jailed and sent to court. So far 99 young protesters have been to court and a few hundred more is waiting for their turn to be punished.
This is nothing but 21st century slavery.

Why are stories like this unsurprising these days?
You would think in this day and age, this would be illegal, but
obviously not.
The devastation at Chernobyl was actually one of my first memories growing up.
I can remember the pictures of the people so vividly and it was a very disturbing
time for these people.
Still cant believe its been 22 years.....

Lukashenko is a BIG problem. ;)
Hope we soon can see a change of regime, a rising where people show they had enough of this. They did it in Ukraine and Georgia. They dethrone in Serbia as well...so there's hope.
Whats scary is this neglecting of human rights in Belarus.

Kasja Markouskaja is one of the 800 who have protested against the 'deportation' to the area with radiation hazard. She's going to work for the government controlled newspaper Avantgard in the city Buda-Koshelevo, less them 100 km north of Chernobyl.

An illegality is only as illegal as the goverment that enforces it. Force the Govt out, vote for change. They never had that option for decades now they do, use it.
These kids will soon develop radiation related conditions, then - its too late.
