PATRICE EVRA is sweating on a new Manchester United contract.
The French left-back, 27 tomorrow, has only one year left on his current deal and no new offer has been made while the Red Devils have tied up long-term contracts with Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown and Michael Carrick.
Evra said: “My agent is speaking to the club. There has been one meeting and nothing since.
“I have one year left. The ball is in United’s court.”
"Evra admits he has had to block out doubts about his future to focus on playing.
He said: “My job was to concentrate on winning the title and I have done it.
“Now my job is to concentrate on winning the Champions League. Let’s see what happens after that.
“It was very important for me to win the league, not because of my new contract but to prove that last season was not an accident.”
Evra has played 97 times for United since signing in January 2006 for £5.5million from Monaco.

Yeah this news keeps coming up but so help me we'd have to be nuts not to renew his contract.
£5.5million, possibly one of the greatest bargain signings we've ever made.

Evra is a great, great signing and he definitely deserves anew contract. The problem according to the papers in France is that his Italian agent is asking for parity with some of the highest earners at the club near the 100k a week range and the club is offering him something similar to Wes Brown.
Now, here's my problem. I think Patrice Evra should earn his 60k a week, but if I were him, I would be asking for more than Wes Brown!
So United have shot themselves a bit in the foot here. I know Philipp Lahm would be happy to earn that sort of money, so if the club can;t get Lahm, they had better make Patrice's agent a better offer or he might be off to Inter or Juve.

I hope they give him one after the final of the champions league. Otherwise there will be plenty of clubs after him and he might be tempted away from OT. :(

I'm sure he'll be tied down to a long-term contract before the start of next season. We'd have to be mad to let him go!

Imo, this is pretty disgraceful.
He is a vitally important player to us, and is the best full-back in the World imo, so he should have been one of the first to get a new contract.
He deserves an amount similar to the likes of Carrick, he even deserves as much as Rio.
I hope they get it sorted out. I definitely don't want to lose him.

First of all I really like Evra but NOBODY deserves as much/more money than Ashley Cole. Least of all Ashley Cole himself! :)

130k? I don't think so. 80k tops for Evra.

well said mate, cashly cole seems like a right mercenary and is the extreme example of thebreed of spoiled brat footballers on show today.
Fergie will move heaven and earth to keep evra and i think Pat is the type of fella who wont be too demanding. in the current climate 80 k a week is plenty and he is worth it after another great season . He has added aggression to complement all his other qualities of pace, technique and box to box presence to become the outstanding left full in europe at the moment. To think gray/redknapp picked lescott in their so called team of the year tonight sums up their knowledge of football:mad:

I don't see what the problem is.
He is a very important player for us, and hes currently the best full-back in the World. He, along with Rio, should have been the first to get a contract extension imo.

Hopefully the contract comes soon... It will be a lost if he leaves on free... I doubt SAF is dumb like Wenger... :D

evra will get a great contract i am sure that fergie will look after him ,evra has been a great success after a disastrous start at utd ,i cannot think of a worst start any player has had at utd than evras.
but he has improved beyond all recognition and is a vital player in utd's play these day's long may he stay.

Red Devils full-back keen to stay
Patrice Evra insists that he is happy at Manchester United and hopes to be offered a new deal in the near future.
The French international has only one-year left to run on his current contract at Old Trafford, but remains confident that the situation will be resolved shortly.
He has become a firm fixture in the Red Devils' first-team since his 2006 move from Monaco, and it would come as a surprise if Sir Alex Ferguson were to allow the attacking full-back to leave.
Evra accepts that anything is possible in football and his future may lie elsewhere, but for now he remains focused on helping United to European glory over Chelsea next Wednesday.
Meeting
"When I came here a lot of people told me football in England is just 'kick the ball away', but now I just laugh because the football is the best in the world," he said.
"I have one year left on my contract but I am just concentrating on the final. I have an agent and Manchester United know my situation. A meeting is coming, but for now I'm concentrating on winning the Champions League.
"After that let's see what happens. It would be hard to leave this club, but in football you never know."
Evra heads to Moscow for next week's UEFA Champions League final desperate to erase the painful memories of falling at the final hurdle with Monaco in 2004.
Overdue
He also believes that the United squad owe their manager another opportunity to get his hands on the trophy, as one success in 22 years does not do justice to a man who has transformed the Old Trafford club.
"Since I lost the final it's been in my mind every day," said Evra.
"That's why, when I signed for Man United, I said in my first interview I just want to play in the Champions League and win to cancel this bad memory with Monaco.
"It's my second final but I can't just play this game. I need to win this game because it's very important for Manchester United because it's a long time since 1999.
Respect
"And I want to win for Alex Ferguson. It's just his second final in the Champions League and I think a manager like that deserves to win it more than once.
"This is why I hope that everyone gets the present for him, out of respect for what he has done for Manchester United.
"I think it's very important for everybody but of course for the manager it's important.
"In 20 years at Manchester United he has won ten titles, but I think it's very important for him."

He's angling to get the best deal for himself. Top player, but nothing surprises me in football these days.
If he want's to stay, he will. If not he'll be off.

I'd be devastated if he were to leave, but he wont
He will sign a new deal and he will go on to be a memorable united defender
I think he's the most skillful left back in the world
Be a big loss, but he'll sign a new deal;)

I want to know why we haven't offered him a contract yet anyway.
As I said earlier, he should have been one of the first to get a new contract imo.
