I need to choose my Antivirus solution. It needs to be good and fast. Its better if it is all in one security. What do you recommend ? What do you use ? Have you any idea ? Read anywhere ? Please Guide ?

www.avast.com (http://www.avast.com)

and its free

Use zone alarm if on XP - best freebie firewall on the web.

http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/catalog/products/znalm/comparison.jsp - far right

If on Vista, do not use zonealarm, conflicts. Use Vista built in firewall, its very good.

I use Avast also. So far it's been very reliable, moreso than the Norton Antivirus which I had previously.

Avast IS a commercial product; they just give it away free, it does the job don't worry.

Norton, do not touch with a bargepole, it takes over your pc and uses resources like no other. This first thing I did when I bought this new pc was delete all references to Norton AND make sure to delete all folders symantec too, there is spyware hidden within.

AVG is another good one, but of the two, I prefer avast. Some AV programs, when they do their auto updates, can crash programs you are currently in, avast does not.

i agree with RD. i have zonealarm Security Suite. its an absolute fortress!

constantly scans your internet connection for unauthorised entry. and asks permission for programs to access sensitive areas. along with a email protections and a bunch of other stuff. it costs to buy of the website i think. but you can download it via torrent. i.e mininova.com

wheres its absolutley free :) and legal of course.

Do i need another Anti-Spyware thing ? I use Windows Care, free with Vista. But you can always buy spysweeper; its not expensive and does a good job. Or, go into zdnet.net and look for a freebie like Adaware.

I used to use zonealarm and it was quite good. It does have some conflicts
with msn messenger though so if you use that a lot don't use zonealarm.

At the moment I'm using Kaspersky anti-virus and Sygate Personal Firewall
and I have no problems.

nod32 is also very good.

So my decision :

Avast : which i already have.... and i keep updating it

ZoneAlarn : Free Firewall which i will download

Antispyware : I installed adaware and some other thing , scanned and then uninstalled. Windows defender also installed and then unistalled .

Also i followed few registry tweaks online

Now my Pc is fast ....

thanks

nod32 is by far the best antivirus out there . not me saying that its computer magazines who have tested them all -- i use avg free and have for 5 years . i do not visit filesharing sites however so maybe i just got lucky . i also use zone alarm free . there is one called antivir free but that doesnt scan e-mails .

everyone i know who has used norton hated it with a passion by the way

I use Norton.

Very good. Runs scans twice a day (One in the morning and one at night), aswell
as alerting you if something dangerous is about to be downloaded or entered.

Its been great for me, and a word of advice, don't invest in McAfee because that
was rubbish and my PC got a virus and I had to get a new one!

Norton fo rme! ;)

Edit:

everyone i know who has used norton hated it with a passion by the way

Wll, looks like I'm the one to recommend it! ;)

Well , you must be careful Keano , Norton is good but hogs your resources and RAM. Your PC will run much faster without that bloated piece of trash called Norton. It was very slow. My mate has a Norton AV , well he had. Now even he's shifted to Avast. It even gives Audio alerts on Virus
