Campbell: Delighted With Hull

Young United striker Fraizer Campbell is looking forward to a first appearance at Wembley, after helping Hull City reach the Championship Play-Off final.

The Tigers followed up a 2-0 victory away at Watford with a resounding 4-1 thumping at home on Wednesday night.

Campbell recently told Inside United that he was delighted with how his season had gone at Hull, and said that promotion would be the perfect end to the season.

“To come on loan, play most weeks and score goals has been perfect for me. I’ve really enjoyed myself and we’re doing really well in the league now, too – better than anyone expected. It would be perfect if we could finish the season properly with promotion. To get up into the Premier League would be a massive achievement.”

Hull’s triumph followed Bristol City’s progression on a tense Tuesday night at Ashton Gate, where a 2-1 victory for the Robins secured a 4-2 aggregate win, and a date at Wembley on 24 May.

Neither of the two teams has ever played top flight football since the Premier League was formed, and the last time United faced either side was in 1988, when the Reds beat Hull 5-0 at home and then 1-0 away in the League Cup, with Brian McClair scoring in both games. In all competitions, United have played Hull 20 times, with the Reds coming out on top on 12 of those occasions.

If Campbell can bulk up a little bit he could defiantely make it. He has loads of pace and is a good finisher. He reminds me of a faster defoe.

Campbell has had a great season at Hull. I really hope they go up.
I like their manager Brown, he is a top man. They have Frazier playing
up top with the old war horse Dean Windass who is 38 or so and will be
playing his very first game at Wembley, which is great for guys like him....
Even Nicky Barmby is still going strong. Haven't heard much about him in years:confused:
but he's still knocking them in and doing the business.

Campbell is their top scorer with 15 league goals, which is a great return.
As Natalie said above, if Hull got promoted loaning Frazier back to them
would be very beneficial indeed. It would be a great stepping stone for the
lad, and then he will be ready to conquer all at United.

Also, Hull are the largest city in Europe to have NEVER played top flight football.
They deserve a crack at the big time.

Fergie also said Rossi would replace Van Nistelrooy. Campbell will not be in the first team next year, probably another year out on loan.

he is a good prospect, but i hope he stays with hull city for another season if they get promoted, to gain some epl experience, because the margin for error when playing for utd is rather small compared to hull city, and utd requires continual success and there will be very limited chance if he does come back next season. he has to prove himself in the premier league first before getting more first team action with utd.

Tbh, if Hull get promoted I would send him out on loan to them for at least a year.

With Tevez, Rooney, Manucho, and at least one, but 2 possible other strikers (Saha and a potential new signing) he won't get anywhere near the first-team imo.

He should go out on loan to a Prem club to gain experience, and so that we can see how well he plays in the Prem.

Then we can see whats going to happen when he comes back.

have nv really seen him play before but all the paper talks had been rating him very highly. if he is sooo good, hope united will give him a chance to prove himself or loan him to a top flight club.

How about give him a chance in the first team, if Fergie rates him so highly? Instead if sending him out on yet another loan which he seemingly does with every young kid that he thinks will be something in the future. Rossi got tossed out without really getting a real chance, and that still annoys me.

It's the Charity Shield. Nothing special; not taken seriously really. Fergie uses it as a pre-season game.
