Roma are where they are in the CL on merit and will not be an easy game, especially as we seem to be suffering from injuries at precisely the wrong time. We can beat you but it all depends on too many variables to mention here!

Gonna be very tough but I think we''ll edge it over 2legs 4-2. We've had the edge over Italian opponents in recent years and i think Roma will struggle at old trafford more than we will in Rome. Having said that though it will be 2 very tough but exciting matches (especially @Old T) and im glad we're playing Roma rather than Lyon which would have produced 2 dull, boring, tactical battles ( although it would have been nice to put ANOTHER one over the French Scouser! lol). Roma are renowned for their skillful, attacking, flair players and playing style and although not quite what they have been in recent times they are still one of the top teams worth watching in Italy for their entertainment value as much as their quality. All in all will probably be the best tie of the round and there will be plenty of goals IMO..May the best team win...and may that be UTD!!!

well to be honest i really love roma, as my second team of course....i was praying we would avoid roma cuz i like'em and its too sad to see either of both teams not making the semi-finals, rather i was hoping we would face AC Mialn since we were getting our revenge this year, first benifica then Lille, it would be sweet to wipe out Milan in 1 yr..
GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!!!

Look, Liverpoo beat Barca at the Nou Camp 2-1. We went to Anfield and won 1-0 (with ten men when the goal went in). If you didn't see the game, you would be naturally inclined to say that based on recent scorelines, we're better than Barca and Liverpoo (which we are, usually). But based on recent form and injuries, the same cannot be said in all truthfulness.
Any team that has reached this stage in the League has dispatched tough opposition. As this is a knockout round, each and every match is important. The best way to progress is by winning BOTH legs of the game. Depending on away goals will not be a wise idea. United has this tendency of slipping on banana skin games where the opposition has been underestimated (case in point - Reading FA Cup replay). AS Roma are dangerous because they are the underdogs. If they're beaten, people will say that it was expected. If they win, they'll be hailed as the David who smote the Goliath that is United.

Nothing but respect for Roma, you guys play great football and if we were to lose then I would choose Roma to win the competition.
Lets hope for 2 great legs of total football mate. :)

Def agree. Seen a lot of Italian footy over the years and although my team is Fiorentina I have always enjoyed watching Roma, even though your fans are crazy!! lol was with my g/f in Rome for a weekend and ended up watching a Roma league game in a bar in Rome and ended up drinking all day and night with some Roma fans, I was hungover for the rest of the week!! If we don't go through I hope Roma win it.

I hope you mean every single UNITED player. :D
Other than Totti and some spurts of De Rossi, Roma were just too stunned to do anything. A propah blitz, if ever I saw one. Shades of the 6-2 Fenerbahce demolition on Rooney's UCL debut (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/europe/3677174.stm).
It's been the perfect pick-me-up for us especially now that the next match is the FA Cup semi-final against Watford. We must however, guard against complacency and overconfidence.
I'm absolutely delighted with the performance of the United fans - simply magnificient, how they cheered and supported Van der Sar when he'd dive across the face of goal or when he did manage yet another spill. Speaking of which - glad to see how our defenders immediately surrounded VDS as soon as the ball slipped from his grasp. It was almost like a bunch of Secret Service agents clustering around Bush! :p
