I understand you want ‘your’ players to play for United. But we don’t need another great player, we need players who will make a difference. We got Forlan who came to OT and didn’t do much besides giving the sorry Loserfool fans another unhappy Christmas and then he left us only to show us why Fergie bought him but he wasn’t ready for what was expecting of him in a United shirt.
That’s why I was questioning Abo about his Petric maniac. Ok I admit, I had a John Terryble moment and slipped. I should have known better then to go into argument with Abo. But I was seriously interested who this Petric really were.

What I found out wasn’t jaw dropping. We’re looking for a striker (as you say yourself one who can score 20+) and I couldn’t see Petric do that. Abo says he’s a striker but Borussia Dortmund has listed him as a midfielder. Their strikers they’ve listed sounds to me as poor so if Petric is a 20+ scorer he should be Tomas Doll’s first pick as striker instead of midfield.
His international record as goal scorer isn’t that breath taking either. I found info about all his international goals, 2 goals in friendly games against Wales and Norway and the rest against Andorra. Not very impressive if he’s a man for Manchester United I think.
Well, he scored that game winning goal against England in the Euro qualifications but it COULD be the exception which stresses the rule here. Another factor, he’s not a kid anymore. He’s born 1981 so he’s 27. We’re not talking about a teenager really even if I think Petric have many years left in his legs.
Now Im looking forward to the Euro Championship and I’ll watch as many games as I possibly can with Croatia just to see what material this Petric really is made of. If he’s good enough he should be on the shopping list but the facts (as striker) don’t impress me much.

i'll tell you this much - the guy is a quality player, one of the best in bundesliga - if he played for bayern he would most certainly be one of the top 2-3 players of bundesliga - he would be a good backup in the beginning for us - but later who knows - he could be a starter - he's most certainly a bargain - miles better than podolski btw - but we won't sign him - we're not even considering him...has a sweet left foot

I agree with Crooney totally here on this point...I would consider Petric as a back up striker and Pletikosa as a back up keeper but the attitude of people on here is amazing...in my last post in the Pletikosa thread I was trying to say something quite similar to what Crooney has stated in the quote above...some people come out and say that a new keeper would be the most pointless signing of the history...okay everyone does have an opinion but to say that a new keeper would be the most pointless signing in history is really harsh imo...people act as if VDS will last for ever and will produce the same quality has he has done before in a few years time and actually think that our 2nd and 3rd keepers will not want first team football and will remain in the reserves and bench for years to come...okay maybe I am a little off the topic but I also noticed the lack of respect caused by the ignorance of people...Petric might be in Rio's and Vidic's back pocket if he was playing against us but so was Torres and one would be lieing if they did not want Torres in their squad...Petric for me is not the first choice because I rather see Huntelaar or Villa ahead of him BUT he can be on the shortlist and should not be rejected without any real reason by people on here imo

What made it more interesting is the fact you guys say he's the same class as Eduardo da Silva, that should make him interesting to at least 15 teams in PL, wouldnt he?
