Why are you all so surprised ppl vote for the neighbouring countries with similar/same culture, language and history? Like Greece, Balkan countries, Nordic countries and so on?
A few years ago when some countries allowed SMS voting it was a fact younger people used the new technology more then the 'oldies' and the result were the old traditional Eurovision songs scored low while 'newer' music scored big.
Another factor is the imigration into countries.
The only fixed thing is the sugar daddys at EBU who will be in the Grand Finale no matter what you send. Thats the only scandal if u ask me.

so how is it a contest if people vote for country they like and not the performance ?
the moment dustin was eliminated the contest lost all interest

I think people vote for what they like, dont you think so? If they happens to like Balkan music they vote for it, or whatever it is now they like. I think its just the old member nations is acting grumpy coz the newer members of EBU have been more successful lately. If you cant take it, do like Italy and dont even bother to compete.

Bets settled. Russia win.
Veteran Eurovision Song Contest commentator Sir Terry Wogan has cast doubt on whether he would be involved in covering the event again.
He said it was "no longer a music contest" and that prospects for Western European participants were "poor".
He spoke out near the end of his TV commentary after Britain's entry Andy Abraham had finished joint last of the 25 finalists.
Russian heartthrob Dima Bilan romped to victory with a massive 272 points with a big ballad, produced by US R&B star Timbaland, called Believe.
The contest was held in the Serbian capital Belgrade and was due to be watched by more than 100 million television viewers across Europe.
Sir Terry said 43-year-old former dustman Abraham, who found fame on TV talent show the X Factor, deserved more votes from other countries than he received.
He said: "It's a disappointment, considering that Andy Abraham gave, I think, the performance of his life with a song that certainly deserved more marks than it got."
Referring to certain other songs in the competition, he added: "You have to say that this is no longer a music contest."
And he said: "I have to decide whether I want to do this again. Western European participants have to decide whether they want to to take part from here on in, because their prospects are poor."
He did not want to take anything away from Russia, though, which had won comfortably.

Anyone got a link or vid for the winning song?
Don't know why I'm asking but I guess I'm curious.
Im very glad I missed it this year lol
although I did devise the world's best drinking game for last year's Eurovision.
Get completely bladdered off your head and then the songs become mildly
entertaining :-P especially in a ripping the **** kind of way.
