Ferguson apologised to Park Ji-Sung for final omission

After his surprise decision to leave Park Ji-sung out of the squad for Wednesday's Champions League final victory, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson apologised to the player.
The South Korean watched from the sidelines as the English champions defeated the London club after a penalty shootout.

After appearing in every minute of United's quarter and semi-final matches, it was expected that Park would play at least some part in Moscow.

"I was told that I wouldn't be playing just before the match," Park told South Korean television.

"After the manager announced the team he told me that he was sorry that he hadn't selected me." The 27 year-old was philosophical about the decision.

"The team won so I am happy. Personally it is frustrating not to play in such a big game but there will be other opportunities."

In my opinion, Park truely deserved it more the O'shea and Fletcher... He could be the first Asian to play in the finals. What a chance... Can anyone tel me if he's awarded a medal? :D

I think as long as your registered to play in the CL squad you get a medal. So that would be a yes. :)

These were for players who have taken part in
games before the final but not the final itself.

I feel sorry for him too actually. He played a
great part in the quarter and semi finals.

Despite the criticisms Fegie does know best.

As he has again proved this season with a
rather nice double !

Delighted for players like him, O'Shea Fletch and of course Gazza who got medals!



BTW, remember this, Wes Brown has two Champions League winners medals!

At the very least, i would have picked Park on the bench ahead of O'Shea or Fletcher. He deserved it alot more. He still gets a winners medal and he played his part in our success in previous games. He was magnificent against Roma & Barcelona.
His home country should be proud of their boy, who has made history for them.
Maybe it'll inspire more Asian players to succeed like him.

I think the reason park was left out is because furgason could take the chance with panelty coming up, so he picked the best 10 and I for one agree with that, but having said that I feel for park because he has realy played hes heart out in the last couple of games and he deserves a medal.

When Fergie made the decision not to start with Park then he had to leave one of Giggs, Nani and Park out of the squad because there is no point having 3 wingers on the bench.

He was never going to leave Giggs out and in the end Nani came on and converted his penalty so I guess he made the right decision.

i believe park will continue to give his all and perform although he must be feeling disappointed after some good performances towards the end of the season when he recovers from injury

I don't know about you lot but i was really furious when I saw the bench...the line up was what I wanted and expected and the bench was perfect untill I read Fletcher's name and not Park's...that just really ruined my pre match mood tbh...Fletcher did not play such an important role as Park did in the CL Quarters and Semis...Park also did help us get to the Final - 100 times more deserving than Fletcher imo...did Fletcher get chosen because his Scottish because I am pretty sure he would not be Man United if he was from some where else! He to me is worse than Butt and if we sold Butt than he should go asap

Well, Fergie made the right choice in the end, but it was terrible luck for Park.

Hes been fantastic this season and deserved to play in the final.

But I can understand why hes was left out.

Why are yous all saying you would pick him over Fletcher and O Shea. We already had giggs and nani on the bench, 2 players that can change a game and are the same position as Park. Had a defender got injured, O Shea could come in and if Carrick or Scholes got injured Fletcher could come in. I think we should trust SAF by now. Park contibuted a hell of a lot anyway and should not feel left out.

i still think he shld get his place before nani, although nani did score one of the penalties. it must be really hard to take for him.
