I think we have already done the treble this season, with the Community Shield, Premier League and Euro Champions cup.

What do you guys think?

Technically yes, but the Community Shield is hardly worth bragging about.

GeordieMancunian
23-05-2008, 05:34 PM
Well it is because on all 3 fronts we've beaten Chelsea to them.

quite different in my opinion. community shield is an one off game, and not as competitive.

We've won a treble, but not the treble. Kind of like in 1999 when we did the treble, but also won the Intercontinental Cup, which would mean we did a quadruple.

Was that also the Tokoyo thing we won? I remember a golden key as the trophy.

Anyway it's "A" treble nonetheless.

It's nice to have beaten Chelsea to three trophies,
but like Grif says, it's not THE treble.

Yeah, it is the old equivalent of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Yeah, it is the old equivalent of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Yeah when we won that we became the best and richest club in the world and world champions, I hope we can win it again this time round.

Well if you look at it this way, right, we beat the FA cup holders in the charity shield, which was one of the trophies we didn't win last season, so I'd say the community sheild surpasses the FA cup in that respect because we beat the FA cup holders and the community shield we won this season.

So just because the FA cup is the most famous of most cups in the world, doesn't class our trophies this season as the actual treble.

Just like the UEFA super cup surpasses the champions league cup.

The Community Sheld is more important than the FA Cup?

Did I get you right?

If I did, I disagree completly.......

Surpasses the FA cup, not better, I said. The Community Sheild is superior to the FA cup because the winners play the premier league champions, it's a progression cup, which should make it more valuable.

People should appreciate the shield more than the FA cup, that's all I'm saying. The community shield tells you who is better team out of the FA cup holders or the Premier League winners.

No it doesn't, it's a one off game where sometimes youth
players and reserves are used. teams are still in pre-season
preparation and trying to get new signings to gel with the
existing squad. Neither team is ever at full strength. The
Community Shield is nowhere near as valuable as the FA Cup!.

I wouldn't say the Charity, or Community shield, whatever its called nowadays :p is worthy to be called part of a treble tbh.

Its just a pre-season trophy imo, like the Amsterdam tournament we won 2 years ago ;)

Yeah, sometimes this pre-season warm up game isnt between the league winners and the FA cup winners.:p We've played a 2nd rating team the years we won the League-FA Cup doubles ;)

No we sound like Liverpool then.

Here here Scott the only 3 trophies worth bragging about are the league , the Ecl and the Fa cup. The others are just mickey mouse competitions for the likes of Loserpool hence why he took great pleasure from singing they can stick their plastic treble up their asses in 2001:p . it was only for the likes of that great fraud Houllier that the charity shield was taken seriously;)

No, the charity shield is a one off, friendly, game.

this would only be classed as a treble if the scousers had won it,

for us more succesfull clubs its a double. id feel a bit embarressed to say we won a treble, cause the charity shield means nothing to me

Well last I heard its considerd to be a MINOR Treble, similar to Liverpoo's minor treble with the League Cup , FA Cup, and UEFA Cup! Out of 5 trophies we were in for we got 3 and next season we will be contesting for 7...I so can't wait for next season!!

Keano016

The answer to the question is YES, We have won A treble. We won 3 trophies in one season so it is technically a treble but I wouldnt go bragging about it lol

Keano!
18-07-2008, 06:24 PM
Calling this the treble would tarnish "the" treble! Get me?

As scott says, we don't want to sound like Looserpool now do we?

We won two trophy's and a shield so we did the double! ;)

hence the "Double" on the season review DVD! ;) lol

We've won a Treble alrite,

But you can't really count the Community Shield as a Major Triophy to include in a Treble, We did beat Chelsea in all 3 though which was Nice!!!!!

atleast we beat the chelski! 3 times this season, sad thing to see for roman abrmovic

no. community shield is a friendly tournament and player appearances are never including in stats.

its like saying if we win comm shield, super cup and world club champ that we have done treble again.

I wouldn't really count the League Cup as part of a treble. IMO the only real treble is FA Cup, CL and Prem. I won the CL, Prem and League Cup on my FM game in my first season but i didn't really class it as the "treble". Like when L'Pool won thir "Treble" in 2001 or w/e. They won the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA, that's barely worth bragging about all rubbish bar the FA.

That's exactly what I think. The real Treble is the one we won in 1999. Liverpool's 'Treble' doesn't even come close to ours.

As far as us winning the 'Treble' in 07/08, I think again it could be classed as a treble but obviously the big two trophies were won in May not August.

There is no point to keep on talkling about something we already have the answer to like zuco said lol

Last season we did do A Treble...its called a MINOR TREBLE just like liverpoo's one of a league cup, fa cup and uefa cup. It is not THE famous terble of 1999 of a CL, EPL and FA Cup.

But an interesting note is that most sites say we did the european double

Meaning the domestic league and champions league
