I usually get slated on this subject but we are here to give our opinions so here we go. The Rooney Factor, I just don't see it. Countless times, I have seen him in the Team of the Season and even a lot of World 11 teams. I scratch my head everytime.

This is not just United fans. I have a lot of mates that are Liverpool fans and they all say Rooney is the one player they would want. Rooney is one of my favourite players and he always gives 100%. But so do players like Hargreaves, Park and Tevez.

I think Tevez has had a better season. He has given everything and scored some important goals. I hear people saying that Rooney leaves it for the big games but he was average in the CL final. He hasn't really scored a really important goal all season, maybe Reading away and a few others. But when I say Tevez has had a better season, people usually disagree with me.

I think Rooney is a top player but sometimes I think people go over aboard with him. If you think Rooney had a better season, please give me the reasons.

I would absolutely agree that Tevez has had a better season. Hes been fantastic.

But Rooneys a vitally important player for us, as proven by his performance against Wigan, but I do think he was poor in the CL Final.

Injuries have majorly disrupted his season, and next season we'll see the Rooney Factor once again!

Good point, there are some factors like his injuries and playing out of position a lot. Maybe with a good pre-season and no injuries we will see the best of Rooney. It's some people's view that Ferguson is stopping Rooney from playing his best. What do yous think?

It's some people's view that Ferguson is stopping Rooney from playing his best.

I personally wouldn't say so.

I think his partnership with Tevez, when they've both been playing well, and adding in Ronaldo, has been incredible and a real joy to watch.

I just think that, like my other post ^, injuries have disrupted his season.

And maybe with another striker or two, he'll improve his game to stay in the team :p

put rooney behind another striker, and we will see the best of him. tevez is doing great in the hole behind rooney, but i firmly believe rooney will do a better job there.
with manucho and probably another striker coming, rooney will spend more time there. next season will be huge for rooney, after playing in the shadow of ronaldo for a whole season.
this season wise, tevez has had a better season, i dun think there is any argument there.

tevez had a better season than rooney. he scored vital goals which, even according to Alex Ferguson himself, are one of the reasons why manchester united are champions in the premiere league and why they climb up to the Champions League finals (and eventually the champion).

I must have read somewhere else before that rooney had said himself that he had to adjust his position for tevez, and that may be the factor affecting his game. but he is really a good footballer, he knows how to read the game and he knows how to pass the ball. he thinks about the whole team and not just about himself

next season he'll be better. I put my foot on the ground when I say man u can be champions without ronaldo but not without rooney

Tevez has had a better season than Rooney. Since Rooney picked up that injury in our first home game of the season to Reading he hasn't been quite the same. Unfortunetly he's had quite a few knocks of the season with his recent hip injury aswell. Hopefully the rest over the summer will do him the world of good and he will be world class player that we no he is next season

Whats more is Tevez should come back a better player as this will be the first time in months he can have some time off and refresh himself.

I agree with you!
Rooney had many traumas in this season. It is the most important reason :(

I agree in parts . I think rooney is a "hole " player who should be given full scope to roam and destroy defences. I think restricting him to a position is a waste , I think he's best in the cantona role with another striker playing up front for him.

Don't agree with the consensus here at all. I sincerely believe Rooney has had a better season than tevez. okay his finishing has been average at best but he brings to the team more than makes up for it in terms of touch, control, vision, passing ability andabove all industry . He was voted twice player of the month in october and february and is so pivotal to the side that in the 5 league defeats this season he was not playing( if you include the game at stamford bridge where he had to go off after equalising).Plus he has scored some vital goals-goal against arsenal in the cup, goal against roma at home in thev group stage and the away leg q final, i could go on

Dont necessarily agree either that he had a bad game on wednesday because he had a decent first half where with 2 sublime passes he set 2 chances that should have been converted. He no more than any of his teammates from midfield on were playing second fiddle in the second half. Added to that fergie stuck him out on the right wing which as we all know leaves rooney isolated when he likes to be at the centre of the action. I just could not understand why he was taken off and knew we had no chance of winning the game in normal time with him off.

As for tevez as wonderful a player he is due to him not having a pre season and being thrust into the team with the injuries we had at the start of the campaign his form I believe has been inconsistent. yes he has scored some vitsal goals and his grafting is second to none however too many times he loses possession and gives the ball away cheaply. His finishing has been rooneyesque also.

as said in another post above I believe he will be better next season even with the Olympic distraction. A class player but rooney was better for me

fergaiste there are some fair points in there ad we're a better side with rooney, but no way has rooney had a better season than tevez, carlos has been superb in his first season

in my eyes you don't have to score goals to be a great player. put a lion in your corner like rooney and the opposition will be running scared. and thats exactly what rooney does, he's so powerful his very presence affects opponents.

For me Tevez had a much better season than Rooney...with 23 goals last season and when he hit form in October or November 2007 when he was bagging a goal a game I was certain he would be our top scorer, and he certainly does have the capability to be imo...

But I think the injuries affected him...he broke his foot twice and also had that hip injury...I think if he was not interrupted with the injuries he would of been one of the best performers so I am looking forward to next season for him to shine as big as Ronaldo did this season...thank god england aren't in the Euro 08, this means he can have a well deserved rest!

wazza in the cl final could have been responsible for three goals . one fifty yard cross field ball to ronaldo that tevez just missed popping in was sublime - we would have talked about that for years if tevez had scored it . he tired as second half progressed but as was seen by all the players cramping the pitch was worse than it looked

I think you will see the best of rooney next season , this season was stop and start for him .
He was played out of position alot , next season i hope he plays just behind a target man "in the hole" and you will see the best out of him .
Remember he is still young and learning all the time , also with ronny having a magnificient season most of the team have been overshadowed

Tevez have scored some vital goals but for me he doesn't have a better season than Wazza. He scored only one goal more than Rooney and he plays a lot more. Rooney have made also 13 assist, his creativity is fantastic, he played a lot of time in wide positions, he plays almost as a right back against Barca and when he plays we don't loose.
If I have to make a choice I say Rooney
