Manchester United may bring Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen back to the Premiership this summer.

The Sun says Iceland striker is one of the leading names on United boss Alex Ferguson's shopping list to fill the gap left by Henrik Larsson.

Fergie reckons he could get his man to leave Barcelona's Nou Camp for Old Trafford for around £8million.

Ironically, Gudjohnsen quit Chelsea for Barcelona last summer to take over from Sweden veteran Larsson.

Gudjohnsen, 27, is one year into a four-year, £70,000-a-week contract with Barca but has found his appearances limited.

He scored 16 goals in his last season with Chelsea and Fergie has been a long-term admirer of the striker's playmaking talents - as well as his eye for spectacular goals.

Meanwhile, Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung believes he's an improved player for his time in the Premiership.

In Seoul for South Korea's friendly against Uruguay, Park said: "I will play a good game in order to repay the support that fans have shown.

"I believe that a player must always show a better and improved performance. I have learned a lot in the Premier League, so while I am here I will show fans what I have learned.

"I think there will be a lot to learn when playing against a strong South American team on our home ground. Although it's a friendly match, I will play a good game."

Eidur would be a PERFECT player for UTD. For sure he would fit in perfectly. He is quick, strong can hold up the ball or play up top on his own, he also has an eye for the spectacular and is very classy to watch. I had hoped we would sign him last summer when apparently fergie made moves but the russians didn't want to sell him to us and the Barca draw was too much to turn down. If we could snap him up for the money they're talking about it would be terrific business. Even at £10 mil I think that would be easily justifiable. He knows the premier league inside out and that means there would hardly be any settling in period which is crucial for us if we want to build on what we've done this season, right from the off next season.
As for Park, I think he has done really well considering his in the team/out of the team role. Not quite the quality to be a first teamer that will help bring in the trophies but a very solid squad player who wont let u down when required to fill in.

I like him despite him being an ex-Chelsea player, I do not know whether this is just false speculation but we do need someone to replace the void when Larsson left, I think we need one more striker, I would welcome a move for Eidur but I also hope we get Hargreaves in the summer.

I liked the goal he scored against the scousers in the Champions League :)

I can't see Eidur leaving a big club like Barcelona, but you never know in football.

Never i don't want to see him in redshirt., For god's sake why we buy such a player? he is 28 ,not wolrd class we deserve, not hunter etc.
Rather than buying him i prefer to see Rossi and Gong coz either we have to give time for youngees or buy someone who play for longtime with ROO

I would like to see players like Torres and Huntlaar playing for United. We need a striker to fill the void that van Nistelrooy and Larsson left. Someone who can score 30 goals a season for us.

Do we really need another Van Nistelrooy type, I think we are playing better then we have for a long time this season, and spreading the goals around the team more

you are kidding right???
The guy scored 78 goals for chelsea in 6 years so also has bags of experience playing in England. In 2001/02 as a REGULAR first teamer alongside a quality partner (hasselbaink) he scored23 goals!! not bad.
If you can remember the overhead kick he scored against Leeds (in 02/03 i think it was) then you can understand what the guy is capable of. He held down a pretty regular place in both of Chelsea's 2 title winning seasons which is pretty impressive considering the quality of the players he was surrounded by wouldn't you say??
For Mourinho to pick a player so often is quite a plus point for him as Mourinho is no mug. Then Barcelona pay the best part of £10 million for him and Barca don't pay that kind of money for idiots. He has scored 11 for Barca this season and thats pretty impressive too considering he's only really played when Eto, Messi and Ronaldinho have been out injured.
Players like Rossi will get their chance but can you see rossi and roon taking us to the title and poss champ league aswell, I think not. Not yet anyway. When you take Rossi's age and limited experience thus far into it and Saha's injury proneness I think having a player like Eidur ( who by the way can also play in midfield deep centre or the left or right wing as he did very well many times for Chelsea) would be a solid addition to the squad. I'm not saying we shouldn't also Go for a Huntelaar or a Villa.
I for one hope he comes to Utd as he would be an EXCELLENT signing and even if he doesn't I think your unfair to rubbish him.
