With all that's gone on during the off season, with Ronaldo not pledging
his future to United, does anyone think this will affect songs about him?
Will people still sing 'Viva Ronaldo' with the same verve as last season if he does stay?

no no and no
no one will sing viva ronaldo as they used to
they will sing for rooney and anderson
even if ronaldo stays
he will never be the same ronaldo
cuz next year is the year of rooney
Keano!

I highly doubt it.
A lot of the hard core fans I know actually hated the songs about Ronaldo but
that's a different matter.
As abo said, I hope this year is Rooney's year. Unlike Ronaldo, he conducts
himself in a professional manner and doesn't wave his arms about on the field
or dive at every opportunity.
"I saw my mate the other day, he said to me, I've seen the white Pele, so I
asked, Who is he?..........."
Anyways, back to the Ronaldo story :p......No it won't be sung with much vigor
next season, well, apart from his female followers and day trippers to OT who
love watching him.

I don't see how the Old Trafford faithful will sing Viva Ronaldo.
At least i hope they don't. The support and love shown to Ronaldo now looks so misplaced. So unrequited!
Here we have a player who doesn't love the fans as much as the fans love him.

When Ronaldo, apparently, said "a few goals, then all will be forgiven."
It's 100% correct.
Not saying I agree with it, but if Ron scores a hatrick to beat Liverpool, then he'll get sung about.

Yeah it's probably true. If he gives us 100% while
he wears the shirt he will get sung about
A few boos in the first few games would be nice though :p

Absolutely agree.....
Football fans have notoriously short and selective memories. A few important goals and the fans will be singing his name again, but hope they don't sing "Viva Ronaldo".
Also, I'm not sure I want any player to be booed by Man utd fans while wearing the red of Manchester, but I wouldn;t mind people not applauding him for a while. Even when he scores. Give him the silent treatment. I think that's will shake him up more than being booed - he's used to that by now anyway
Stephen

Yeah but wheen he scores next season. 70K United fans will cheer.
Because they are cheering for a goal scored by Manchester United, not cheering Ronaldo scoring it.
Booing - no chance. Why boo your own?

I think Anderson..son...son will be a big(ger) song this/next season. Unfortunately rooney's song, although good, isn't as catchy as others.
although we'll probably get a new song for someone and that will be a popular one.
I love Viva ronaldo though, mainly because its encouraged fans to bring scarves back to games.

Its the same thing with Rio, as soon as he is commited again and scores a couple of goals and a few motm awards and we'll sing it again.. viva ronaldo isnt our best song but it is good for creating an atmosphere cos even day trippers (says the guy from Ireland) who know no songs can pick it up pretty quick!
Anderson will be the song of next year hopefully!

Just finished watching two interviews on you tube with Ronaldo . One was on pitch side after winning the European cup . Right at the end of the interview he is asked about the rumours regarding a move to Real and his answer without hesitation is that his is staying at United . Second interview is some time later , on his way to the team bus and again the interviewers last question to Ronaldo is with regard to him going or staying . Again his answer is a stead fast no i'm staying at United. So maybe all the ***** this summer with Ronaldo and what he said or did'nt say is just that , a load of ***** conjured up by a green eyed president of Madrid . Lets be patient and let the lad have his say when he is ready .

I used to really love Viva Ronaldo because of the atmosphere it created. Everyone knew it including the day trippers etc. and everyone could all sing together. I remeber at Ewood Park, during the second half we were really pushing for an equaliser and every single one of the 7 000 allocation we had that day were standing, jumping and singing Viva Ronaldo with most people waving scalves round. I think being in the middle of that and being part of that was enough to convince me to love the song.
As for next season, I'm not sure it will be sung early on in the season but like other have said if he starts playing the sort of football he was playing last season, outbursts of the song may start to emerge from certain areas of the ground.

Tbh, I don't think the atmosphere is "unreal" when we sing Viva Ronaldo.
Of course, this may be a load of crap because I never go to Old Trafford. But the atmosphere hasn't sounded any different this season.

Last week everyone was saying that only the 'daytrippers' at Old Trafford were singing
the Ronaldo songs. Yet last night at Ewood Park the away fans were belting out his
songs as loud as I've ever heard. The United away support is considered very loyal and
hardcore, and certainly not comprised of 'daytrippers', so what is the explanation for
this? Has Ronaldo now been forgiven completely by match going fans?

I was wondering the same thing but according to a mate who went to the game. She claim the viva ronaldo was sung only because they think that Ronaldo body language were like asking for it. This is what she said:
One player that seemed to not be enjoying himself quite as much as usual was Ronaldo. Whether it was the playing conditions, the rough treatment he was getting from the Blackburn players or just his frustration that he didn't seem to have his shooting boots on, I don't know. But his head seemed to be going down quite a bit and I didn't seem to be the only one who noticed it. Midway through the half, there were a couple of tentative renditions of 'Viva Ronaldo' which to be fair, weren't sung by everyone but seemed to picked up by a few. There was also one shot from a group of lads at 'He plays on the left'..' but that didn't take off. I wondered if things were going to start improving between the fans and Ronaldo, particularly if his body language was making fans think that they need to get behind him.
And i actually agree with her cause i think right after the fans sang that, he play better like it gave him some kind of motivation.

Hmm that could be it, but they weren't 'tentative renditions', it was literally blasted
out and could be heard loud and clear above the Blackburn fans.
I do think it's time he was forgiven though. While he's wearing a United shirt he
should be given our 100% support and backing. Even if that means singing his
sons til our throats are hoarse.
Nice sig by the way ;)

One thing we need to note..watching it on tv is always not the same as on the stadium itself especially when we are talking about volume :p
Im sure he will be forgiven..it is just matter of time..he did something wrong and should be punish for it atleast and the fans have the right to let their feeling known the same way Ronny let his feeling known of going to Madrid. I think the fans will forgive him no matter how long it took them but to forget, i dont think they can.

Was watching with my mates and we just looked at each other when we heard Viva Ronaldo. Nobody said anything.
To think that I taught a bunch of strangers in a pub how to sing it last season, kinda makes me feel dumb now.
Yes, he's still a United player and arguably our most dangerous player, but the way he tried to help Madrid manufacture a move just really was a slap in the face.
What was to be a summer of gloating, became a circus and a shame. It also made me question every dodgy decision he has ever made on the pitch. Was it a genuine mistake or washe just trying to do something, so he looked good on TV?
This is the kind of plonker he has now exposed himself to be.
