Sampdoria Midfielder Tragically Dies
The Calcio world is in mourning after Sampdoria and Treviso midfielder Gionata Mingozzi was tragically killed in a car crash this morning.
The 23-year-old, who is co-owned by Samp and Treviso, was on his way to a medical ahead of the beginning of pre season training when he was involved in a head-on collision between his Porsche and a lorry near Venice. The tragedy occurred at around 8am.
“It is with the deepest sorrow that we will mourn with his family, friends and all who have had the privilege of knowing him during his tragically short life,” a statement on Treviso’s club website reads.
Mingozzi began his career with Ravenna in 2001 before joining Perugia in 2004. A year later he was snapped up by Sampdoria, where he made his Serie A debut.
He spent the 2006/07 season on loan at Lecce, before Treviso bought 50 per cent of his contract last summer.

Such a shame ...
Poor guy ...
I was actually watching videos of players who actually
just dropped dead on the pitch. Don't ask me why ... :o
Mark Vivien Fow, Fehrer, some Czech guy and there was
a really scary one that freaked me out !!
An arab guy, I think it was the Saudi League, banged
heads with another guy and fell over. Then he got up
and threw himself down again. Up he got and began
running backwards really funnily. Next he fell down
and arched backwards before falling forward.........
and he was gone.
They say Gabriel, the Angel of Death, took his soul and
this was his final throes

Its terrible to hear of people dieing, but its even more tragic when its a complete
accident which could have happened to anyone.
Fact was that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Apparently he took a whack to his central nervous system
and his brain went a bit crazy and so did his body.
Looks scary.
