View Full Version : Do we need new striker?
Hello!!
Man Utd are doing very good season and they are candidate for three trophies but I think we need one more worldwide striker.
Alan smith is good striker but not the type of player who can perform well all the time and I do not think ole will be able to play next season!!
If Man Utd are going to bring a striker I think David Villa will be great option and will jibe with other players becuase he is very quick and he has great finshing.
What do you think!?
Saha is able to that job, we dont need to waste money on a new striker, we have scored something like 114 goals in 53 matches

I think you need to reduce your font size. Please do it before I do it for you.
Now - Ole has said that he will fulfill his contract next year, so as far as I can tell we have more than enough on the rolls. Let's see what our strike options currently are:
Strikers / Forwards :
1. Rooney
2. Saha
3. Smith
4. Solskjaer
5. Rossi
6. Dong
Emergency strikers ( those who can play up front if need be ):
7. Ronaldo
8. Giggs
9. Richardson
David Villa / Feranando Torres / Berbatov and Huntelaar are just some of the names being bandied about at the moment. All quite good, but because of their skill level, they're priced out of our reach. A Saha-Berbatov / Saha - Michael Owen swap deal is being mooted thru some trash tabloids/webzines, but those are just to garner eyeballs. Don't believe a word of that. If Saha is let go, more than likely he'll want a move to a club that plays European football. No sensible club that plays European football is likely to take on a striker who has now been termed "injury-prone" and "made of glass" by the footballing fraternity as a whole.
Toa nswer your question - the only way we'll get a new striker is if we get rid of one now - Smith, Dong and Rossi won't be going (hopefully) so that leaves us with Saha as the most likely candidate to depart.
Wait and watch...

I agree that we need a new striker cos Saha is too injury prone. Can defo see Fergie being in a world class striker this summer.
Hope its someone like Torres, i think that he is craving for European Football.

i would love to see torres in a united shirt..the problem is he stated more than once that he would like to stay at atletico...so i think huntelaar is an ideal signing

I think one more quality striker in necessary for next season. If Ronaldo hadn't been chipping in as much as he has then we would perhaps have been a few goals short in a few games this season and having Henrik with us even for a short time was a boost. I think I'd like to see someone like (I hate to say it) Drogba up front for united.

I think Torres will join Liverpool and Chelsea will get Villa, United should pick up Huntelaar or Berbatov

I just have a bad feeling about saha when hes fully fit for an entire season he can get you 15-20 goals no problem, but the thing is hes not dependable. when ruud, cantona, solsjaer get into a 1-on-1 position you get the feling they're going to score, with saha i just dont. he misses too many chances.
Yeah i think we do but why dont we try and go for bent imo hes a very good striker, hes dangerous in the box and can use either foot. Hes very quick, athletic and hes quite tall as well - another thing i like about him is that hes young and english. i think his game could come on leaps and bounds at utd and he'd guarantee us 15+ goals a season.
that would give us a strikeforce off saha, smith, bent, rooney, ole and rossi. i can see saha involved in a swap for huntelarr who we will need once ole leaves at the end of nexts seaon. I think fergy will tell huntelarr to stay at ajax for a season and come to OT once ole has left - if he comes to early he wont get as many games and it could hinder his progress.
in 2 years our strikeforce: smith, huntelarr, rooney, bent, and rossi.

Yes we need a new striker .Look both smith and saha cant match Roo. just look spurs match as most players dont understand each other; when one passes the other changees position irrespective of the ball, it is like Roo & saha always they look as if they never played together! But look they way gigs and roo undrerstand! two in one head.both smith and saha are not threat to defenders! sorry to say they dont have that skill even.
If to choose
1 berbatov = he real class, he bringes another quality to us( heading, freekick, can shot penality, above all he is tricky and dangerous one to one which roo lack a little bit)
2 huntular(spelling for u!)= he is like van 7 i dont think Pl is suitable for shuch strikers and it may affect our beutifull football as he stands till some one passes to him.
3 Torres= last yr he wsa my favourite player in wc and Laliga. he hasnt convinced me but he is the most promising striker if he is willing to come
Vill = i dont think we can afford that so let us forget him

agree about the points between roo and saha - i think thats one of the reasons why roo has not quite hit the heights this season, hes notsure of what run saha is going to make. ruud was slightly more simple as he played on the edge of the last defenders shoulder and therfore as soon as rooney turned ruud would make a run for him to be put through, with saha its slightly different. he often comes in from out wide or drops too deep.

I think that's a good idea for man utd to buy Villa from Valencia or Didier Drogba from Chelsea.
