sad news ive just found on the sun site :(
SOCCER star Wes Brown was “stunned” last night after his pregnant sister died — his second family tragedy in five months.
The Manchester United defender was still coming to terms with the death of his father Bancroft in February.
Half-sister Claire Fallows, 36, died in hospital on Saturday night.
Claire, around three months pregnant, had collapsed twice in the last week and it is believed she had a history of heart problems.
England ace Wes, 28, discovered he had a secret sibling just five years ago.
Lost
He learned of her death while on United’s pre-season tour of South Africa.
Last night a family friend said: “Wes had only just got to know Claire and now he has lost her.
“She was a down-to-earth girl who was not bothered that he was a Premiership footballer. She was more interested in the fact that she had found her brother.”
Asda worker Claire, of Burnley, Lancs, leaves a husband Tom, 36, and three sons aged one, 13 and 16.
Wes lives with his girlfriend Leanne Wassell, 32, in a £4million home in Prestbury, Cheshire, with daughters Halle, four, and Lilia, one

RIP to both.
However, Wes will not bring this into his game. He'll continue to play his best football.

However, Wes will not bring this into his game, unlike what Lampard did. He'll continue to play his best football.
Sorry to defend a chelsea player but he did lose his MUM who went to almost all his games. Not a suitable post to use a matter like this to bring down opposition players

No I never meant it to go against Lampard. He deals with it his own way, I understand it.
However when Wes lost his dad in February he didn't bring it out in public, that's Wes. Maybe Lampard thought that was the way to deal with it.
I'm not that sad to use people's lives to get at other players.
I'll edit it out my post, as I feel it could be taken the wrong way.
Sorry.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Brown family.

Stephen, I don't think it was Lampard that brought it out, it was more the press talking about whether he would be fit for the games (mentally) with the traveling he was doing to be by his mom before she passed. I know you weren't taking a dig at Lampard, and know that you already edited your post, but just saying. Not trying to sidetrack this thread, as thoughts should be towards Wes and his family's heartache and grief.

RIP Claire.
One of the sad things about this is that she is Wes half sister and they only found eachother about 5 years ago so i am sure he will be devestated that their time together could not have been longer.

Brown's Pregnant Sister Dies
Wes Brown's sister has passed away during pregnancy. It is unknown whether the Manchester United defender will remain on tour with the club in South Africa or return home...
Claire Fallows, half-sister of Wes, has passed away at 36 years of age. She leaves behind husband Tom, 36, and three sons aged 16, 13 and one.
She was three months pregnant with her fourth child when she collapsed recently. Having had heart problems in the past, she passed away on Saturday.
Brown, whose father Bancroft passed away in February, is rumoured to have decided to stay on tour with the side in South Africa, despite being 'stunned' by the news.
Manchester United play the Orlando Pirates in the second game of their tour tomorrow. It is unknown whether Brown, 28, will be selected in the squad.

Brown flies home
21/ 7/2008
WES Brown will fly home early from Manchester United's tour of South Africa following the death of his pregnant sister, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said.
Brown's half-sister, Claire Fallows, 36, died in hospital on Saturday.
She was around three months pregnant.
Sir Alex said that the England defender would return to the UK on Wednesday from the pre-season tour.
It is not known if Brown, 28, will play for Manchester United against Orlando Pirates in Durban tomorrow.
The death of his sister is a further blow after his father, Bancroft, died in February.

I think it's only right that Wes flys home early. At times like that he needs to be with his family. Having said that I wouldn't be suprised if Wes played against the Orlando Pirates. He seems to me the type of lad that just wants to get on with things and playing for United will help focus him and take his mind off his family tragedy.
He played in the Manchester Derby back in February shortly after the death of his father and his performance was one of the only positives to take from that game. Some of his tackles flying in on Petrov were the best I'd seen from him.
Keano!

^^Exactly...
He's going to be ruined now so he'll want to be with the people who know and
love him. Can't imagine what he's going tnhrough now, but hopefully we'll see the
best of Wes next season because he's a top pro and doesn't deserve what he's
gone through.

Brown to face Pirates
Wes Brown will start in tonight’s Vodacom Challenge encounter with the Orlando Pirates, before flying home to Manchester on Wednesday following the death of his half sister on the weekend.
Sir Alex will also hand starts to youngsters Jonny Evans, Darron Gibson and Lee Martin, while goalkeeper Ben Foster will make his first appearance in United colours since March.
Chris Eagles, United’s scorer in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs, is rewarded with another start, and Fraizer Campbell will partner Carlos Tevez up front.
Sir Alex had already indicated Rio Ferdinand would play after the England defender was forced out of Saturday's clash after suffering a back spasm just before kick-off.
"He’s missed two games now and he’ll want to get back into the action," the boss told reporters at Monday's press conference.
"I think it’s important that he starts.”
The last time the Reds met the Pirates, back in the 2006 Vodacom Challenge, United ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.
What amazing courage and professionalism.
Hard to envisage Brown would actually carry on playing in today's game after a double blow over the past months, contrary to earlier media reports that he will be flying back home. How he can do it is beyond me.
 :(

Well, the games just finished.
United won 1-0, and not only did Wes play, but he played very, very well.
Hes got great courage and is a great professional.
Maybe he prefers to play to take his mind off everything.
But whatever the reason, what a guy he is.
