United are set to break the British transfer record by signing Carlos Tevez on a permanent basis. Tevez, 24, is currently on a two-year loan from his owners Media Sports Investments but United are preparing a bid of around £32 million to keep the Argentine star.
Tevez's adviser Kia Joorabchian said: "We will help him accelerate the deal so that it goes through. Everyone is keen to make sure his future is dealt with in the correct way. Manchester United have been fantastic with Carlos. He's very lucky to have them and they are lucky because he's been very good for them."
United appear ready to do a deal but chief executive David Gill said last week there was no need to rush. But Joorabchian added: "It looks like it should happen but we don't know the timing. It could be a month, two or six."
Gill said: "We have spoken to Carlos Tevez and see him as part of our long-term squad. We have been pleased with his first season. He is a good age, a great player and well liked within the team. We know what we have to do and what we have to pay next summer.
"The only issue is that we would have to sort out a long-term contract for him. But it's not a problem - we can do it in September, October, November or December."
Tevez's contractual history with Joorabchian began in 2004, when he was playing for Brazilian outfit Corinthians. Tevez was bought from Boca Juniors for £20 million but at that time Corinthians were solely owned by MSI (Media Sports Investments) and the fee and the players registration went to the company not the club.
It was Joorabchian who alerted Premier League clubs to Tevez's availability for transfer and MSI retained his economic right when he signed for West Ham in 2007, almost single-handedly keeping the Hammers in the top flight.
West Ham were then fined £5.5 million for breaching transfer regulations for not disclosing their agreement with MSI and in August last year Tevez left Upton Park after agreeing a two-year loan deal with United.
