Ruud van Nistelrooy insists his future will not be decided until after the World Cup.

Although the prolific Dutchman is adamant his love for Manchester United remains undiminished, his chances of appearing for the Old Trafford outfit again remain bleak following his stunning end-of-season bust-up with Sir Alex Ferguson.

But, unlike fellow high-profile strikers Thierry Henry and Andriy Shevchenko, who wanted to make sure their own futures were clarified before travelling to Germany, Van Nistelrooy is relaxed enough about his situation to put his commitment to his country above his day-to-day club career.

"Nothing is going to happen until after the World Cup," he said.

"I have two years left on my contract and if things stay the way they are at the moment I will still be at the club next season.

"But I am not naive. The fact I wasn't involved in the last Premiership game or Roy Keane's testimonial was not a good sign."

Despite becoming only the eighth player in United history to net 150 goals for the club, Van Nistelrooy now appears surplus to requirements.

The 29-year-old has not spoken to Ferguson since the Scot threw him out of United's team hotel prior to the final Premiership game against Charlton, citing the former PSV Eindhoven player's negative effect on team morale as the reason for his expulsion.

Although Van Nistelrooy was back in Holland that night, and is now at the Dutch training camp in Switzerland as preparations for the World Cup step up a gear, the stonewalling has not extended to every member of the Old Trafford staff.

"I have been in touch with a few team-mates," he said. "That was nice and gave me a good feeling."

With two years of his £90,000-a-week contract still to run, it is understandable that Van Nistelrooy is refusing to publicly confirm his days at United are over.

In practice however, the scramble for his services is already on - with Chelsea, Inter and AC Milan, Tottenham and Newcastle among the clubs who have been linked with a player who has scored an incredible 47 Champions League goals.

However, if a parting of the ways is inevitable, it is also mystifying to a man who has enjoyed such a close relationship with Ferguson for most of his five years with the Red Devils.

"I know a lot of people in Manchester don't understand it, well it is the same for me," he said. "I love Manchester United."

He will need to change his attitude otherwise he will go. There is a slim possibility Fergie might let him stay.

Ruud van Nistelrooy insists he is not bitter about his difficult end to the season at Manchester United but has hit back at comments from Patrick Vieira and Arsene Wenger. The Dutchman, who is busy preparing for Holland's World Cup bid, could be heading for the United exit door after a fall-out with Sir Alex Ferguson.

But, despite his frustration, the 29-year-old is determined to retain a dignified silence on his future while also refusing to become embroiled in a war of words with his old Arsenal adversaries. "I am not frustrated," van Nistelrooy told L'Equipe regarding his United future. "I have not said anything until now, and I will continue to keep my own counsel. I let my agent manage everything about my future. I am just disappointed to have not been able to play in Roy Keane's testimonial but I didn't have any choice - I called him to explain and apologise."

Van Nistelrooy believes critical comments from Vieira in the Frenchman's book and also those of Wenger portray the pair in a bad light. "I don't care," continued van Nistelrooy in response to Vieira's aspersions. "Obviously the incident that happened after the Man United - Arsenal match in September 2003 has affected him. "To talk about it three years later with so much aggression, that means he must have been very frustrated. He can say what he wants - he's promoted his book very well.

"I didn't understand why Arsene Wenger let himself down like that. Maybe he wanted to put some doubt in my mind - some coaches are ready to do anything." Sky Sports News

Bayern Munich are considering making a move for Manchester United's unsettled striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Holland international fell out of favour at Old Trafford and, despite reports on Tuesday that he could commit to remaining at United, the German Double winners are hoping to lure the World Cup star to the Allianz Arena.

Bayern are keen to boost their squad to make a real UEFA Champions League challenge next season and van Nistelrooy would appear to be on their list of potential targets.
"He wanted to join us in 2001 in case his move to Manchester United fell through," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Bild.

"We are not doing anything behind Manchester United's back but, first of all, we must find out whether he is really on the market for a fair price. "It's a little too early to start thinking in concrete terms about this topic. "But he is world class, straightforward and honest. A great guy."

The signing of van Nistelrooy would be a major coup for the Bavarian giants, who have lost talismanic skipper Michael Ballack to Chelsea. The former PSV Eindhoven star would find a friend in fellow Dutchman Roy Makaay in Munich and Bayern also have Claudio Pizarro, Roque Santa Cruz and new signing Lukas Podolski competing for striking slots next term.

Well, I think we are resigned to the fate of losing him, but we must make sure that we get a good value of out him.
