Treble-winning reserve team captain Markus Neumayr is one of seven players to be released by Manchester United. The German winger led the Red Devils' second string to the reserve league, cup and shield victories this season, but has been told he can leave after three years as a professional at Old Trafford. Young hopefuls Mads Timm, Eddie Johnsen, Phil Picken, Tommy Lee and injury-blighted defender Mark Howard will also all be out of contract on June 30. Picken, 20, has already agreed a permanent move to Chesterfield after impressing on loan at the club this season, and it is expected that the other players will also disseminate through The Football League. The club also confirmed the release of South African international Quinton Fortune and third year scholar Kyle Moran, who was not offered professional terms.
