England boss Sven Goran Eriksson has insisted there has been no row with Manchester United over Wayne Rooney. The striker is racing to be fit for the latter stages of England's World Cup campaign, after a scan revealed that he would definitely miss the group games. Reports have suggested that Sir Alex Ferguson is reluctant to release his man for international duty in his current condition, but Eriksson has dismissed talk of a rift. The Swede thanked Ferguson for his United's support and stressed that club and country have been in constant communication.

"I spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson and we had a really good conversation," said Eriksson. "Despite all the speculation, there has been a very positive dialogue with Manchester United all along. "There is not a row between England and Manchester United." "I talked to Ferguson two days after the injury. We agreed on things then and nothing has changed since then. "We are very grateful for the support United have given Wayne and the England team. Sky Sports News
