According to an "exclusive" on www.4thegame.com (http://www.4thegame.com) United have completed the signing of Carrick from Spurs for the sum of £14m. There is NO confirmation on any other sports site and certainly not www.manutd.com (http://www.manutd.com) so I have no way of knowing if this is true.

Although this was posted on the official site 4 days ago:

Tottenham and England midfielder Michael Carrick is the latest midfielder to be linked with a summer move to Old Trafford. The Daily Mail says United have enquired about Carrick, who turns 25 in July, with the view to making a £7million offer.

So much for exclusive news! It has not happened, yet!

Tottenham boss Martin Jol has demanded loyalty from Michael Carrick as Manchester United ready themselves to up their offer for the England midfielder. United have already lodged a bid for the schemer, currently on duty for his country in Germany, thought to be in the region of £10 million.
Spurs rejected this approach out of hand but it is thought United will be prepared to up the ante by making a bid nearer £14 million.

United chief Alex Ferguson clearly feels Carrick is the natural long-term replacement for Roy Keane but Tottenham counterpart Jol believes the player needs to show loyalty to the club that rescued him from The Championship.

"Michael knows when he came to our club, Pedro Mendes was playing there as well, and Mendes was a terrific player,'' he told Five Live. ''I made a choice for Michael, and he knows that. He made progress, so he owes this club. Spurs are a great club, he knows that, he is telling everybody. It is always difficult, because you have specific feelings if a big club is coming in - but I think we will do maybe a good job in the next couple of seasons and he will be happy at Spurs."

Jol insists Tottenham have no intention of releasing one of their most important players and has ruled out allowing Carrick to leave, irrespective of the figure offered by United. "They put a bid in, we turned it down and that is it, because we do not want to lose a player like Michael Carrick,'' he added. "He was probably our best midfield player this season, so why should we sell him?

"I have told my chairman Daniel [Levy] I want to keep him. We are building something, so I cannot do without him. "The chairman is a Spurs fans as well and he is always listening - that was his reaction as well, that we do not want to sell him because Michael Carrick did well for us."
