I'm going to the Man Utd v Inter game on August the 1st, I know Manchester well as I have been there many times but I've never been to a game before, does anyone recommend a good place to eat (that's not too crowded) before the game? I know about Lou Macari's Red devils fish and chip shop, outside the stadium, is that any good?

You could load up on cheap Mcburgers and McNuggets from Mc****, stuff your pockets full of them, bring 'em into OT and Bobs your uncle.
Ah no but yo need to get a few pints into ya beforehand. Eating is Cheating as we say in Ireland!
Enjoy the game GM!

the fanzone at the back of old trafford will probably be open aswell, you can get food and sit down in there. They only let so many in so it's never over busy. I drink in the Village Pub or The Trafford Park Hotel - both these pubs do really good food.

I'm sitting in the North West stand row K between the Stretford and the North stand.
Can you actually sit inside the Lou Macrari? - Speaking of Lou, I spoke to him live on MUTV by the way lol.
I'm just so excited about watching my team play for the first time at the theatre of dreams.
Are there any fast food stands inside the stadium that I could go to at half time?
This is what it will be like, from my point of view: :) :)

No one eats inside Old Trafford, many bring there own grub in Tesco bags. You consider yourself to be a proper red get down to Macari's before the game and say hello to some of the proper match going reds, its the usual meet up spot for many on match day.

There are two chippies at the top of Sir Matt Busby Way, turn right. I have eaten in both with no ill effects!!! There is a sandwich bar too, on the corner I think, but not used. Greasy burgers abound on the streets - to be avoided at all costs.

I made the mistake of stopping at a chippy van and getting one of those huge hotdogs, I was alright during the game but was ghastly ill afterwards. On a sidenote, my brother in law has picked up two season tickets for this comming season so hopefully I'll get over a lot more now. Definately going to the liverpool game in march next year, Enjoy the inter match mate.

Nearly everywhere serves scabby dogs, if you are trying to impress a girl then Mac d's never fails does it lassies. My only advise is to avoid the pies at OT, they are rancid unless you have had a good few pints, then they become the dogs b****x.

Last season I followed the same ritual every time I went to Old Trafford for a league game.
First I stop off at the Trafford for a few bottles of Bud, then I walk across the road to the burger stand and get a burger with onions, which I eat as I walk up Sir Matt Busby Way. Once in the ground I get a packet of crisps and another Bud. Once I've finished them I find my seat...

Yep, a skinfull and a curry, or a skinfull and a pizza, or a skinfull and a kebab, or a...well you get the idea!

I normally go to the United chip shop, or is it the Red Devils chip shop. It has a serving window on the outside. That's nice in there. Go get chips and gravy and a few cans of Stella. Find a wall. Sorted.

Actually when I went to Old Trafford the last time I bought a hog dog and very tasty I might add, but the guy who was serving me was a kopite scouser.
Is there a nearby pub I can have a few before the match, near Macari's?

Nearest one is the Bishops Blaize (used to be the Dog and Partridge RIP). I usually go in the Stretford Working Mens Club, but thats a bit of a walk away. BB is your best bet though.

Sorry, the BB is about 20 yards from Macari's.

C'mon RD!
I've been eating burgers from Sil****s on Victoria Place (next to the Tulip) for getting on for thirty years and I've never suffered any ill-effects. ;)
David Q - if you want a decent meal in decent surroundings and a drink as you eat, try Frankie & Benny's on Salford Quays ;)
