Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is set to be sidelined for two months after fracturing a bone in his left foot.

The United ace picked up the injury in Sunday's 0-0 draw with Reading, but it was initially hoped the damage was not too serious.

Rooney sustained the knock when Michael Duberry landed on his foot as the Reading centre-back was attempting to block a shot.

The 21-year-old was forced to come off at half-time in the match and scans have revealed a hairline fracture in the bone.

This is the third time Rooney has injured a bone in his foot after sustaining similar injuries during the 2004 European Championship and in the game against Chelsea at the end of the 2005/06 season.

It's sad but shouldn't be too bad if tevez does ok. We have good strength in depth even with the injuries; Anerson, Nani, Ronalso, Giggs and Scholes can all play the attacking role.

No they cant. Only Tevez can. All the rest can play support striker, as Giggs was doing, but apart from Tevez were short. Hence the introduction of John "The Cat" O'Shea.

Tevez will do well for us until Rooney gets back im sure.

Well, Tevez and Rooney are more support strikers than out and out, I said the attacking role, for us that ends up being 3/4 attacking mids quite often.

Its well frustrating that he gets injured just as the season kicks off. Just as long as everyone else stays fit and healthy we will be fine till he gets back.
I was really looking forward to seeing Rooney do well this season. Its a definite setback for him but we all know he will be back as strong as ever.
