swp is steakin his place-doin superb, j cole needs to step up-he aint exactly beatin anyone or gettin to the byline, when startin for england thats pretty poor play. imo heskeys playin pretty decent-he aint affraid o just bein the link man or target man, which he does 1000 times better than crouch, crouchys too concerned on proovin he a technical sort o player, he's in denial

We watch England today. I dont think Russia is too scared right now but who know maybe England make better game with them.

If they qualify it will be hard time all round for this England. Many teams can just walk past this team, perhaps 1/4 final maybe.

i thought heskey was mint on the day- just what we have been missing, a proper target man- nearly every attack went through him

When Heskey skied that early chance over the bar I thought 'Oh no, here we go again' but his overall performance was pretty good. Although his first touch in the box was dreadful at times he bossed the Israel defence and they didn't know how to handle him.

I still think Crouch should start against Russia though - he's more of a goal threat than Heskey and can hold the ball up just as well.

The big decision for me is whether to drop Barry for Hargreaves. I was very impressed by Barry and he set up both Owen and Richards' goals. The Russians may offer more of an attacking threat than Israel so a ball winner like Hargreaves could be needed but how do you drop Barry after that performance?
