The Young defender scored twice through powerfull headers in spains 4-0 win over scotland on thursday which earned them a place in the semi finals as leaders of group B
Spain having won the UEFA European U19 Championship twice before are looking for a third crown after scoring 10 goals in 3 group matches and Manchester United young defender Gerard Piqué is playing a huge role .
The player was quoted saying .
"It’s certainly interesting, in the first match [a 5-3 win against Turkey] the team was a little nervous and it was our first game together since the end of May.
"But we started well and, although we were lacking a little sharpness and there are things we can improve, as we play more games we will get getter and better."
Piqué, who was rested for the incidental draw against Portugal on Sunday night, is thriving on the strain and prestige of playing for his country.
"I'm very proud," he said. "To represent Spain is a feeling you cannot explain. Every match you have to give everything and if you play well you can be proud of yourself. If you don’t play well, you have to do better next time because it’s important for you and important for your country.
"The most important thing is how to play under pressure. You are under pressure to win every match, to reach the semi-finals, to reach the final, to win the tournament.
"In top-level football, you have to learn how to cope with such pressure and to play for the result."
Whether the player will break into Uniteds defence this year is yet to be seen , with player like , Ferdinand , Brown , Vidic and silvestre well above in the pecking order.
