if true then its a good signing
a bit pricey but lets hope he justifies our interest
look forward to him becoming a united legend one day
here is the full article, hope it gets confirmed by the clubs soon:
Manchester United have signed Michael Carrick from Tottenham Hotspur for Stg17 million. The EXCLUSIVE news was revealed on Setanta Sports programme The Hub on Thursday evening.
Carrick is set to finalise personal terms before being unveiled to the media at Old Trafford within the next 48 hours - the press conference is likely to take place before the weekend, however.
Setanta Sports understands that Carrick will move in a straight-cash deal, with no players moving in the opposite direction. The midfielder's desire to move to United is said to have forced Martin Jol into letting one of his prize assets leave North London.
Carrick is set to pen a five-year deal at Old Trafford once his medical is completed and terms are agreed, with no hitches expected at this stage.
United agreed a fee of Stg17m with Tottenham on Thursday after tracking the midfielder for the last couple of seasons. Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson sees Carrick, who was a member of England's World cup squad, as a replacement for Roy Keane.
The news will be a major boost for United's fans with Ruud van Nistelrooy all but completing his move to Real Madrid this week.

here is another article this time on The sun's web site, it claims the transfer fee is 14.5 million which would be acceptable in my opinion. Here is the full article:
MICHAEL CARRICK will join Manchester United in a £14.5million deal next week.
Alex Ferguson has finally made his first summer signing after Spurs accepted United’s improved offer last night.
And Real Madrid claim they will complete the £10.3m capture of Red Devils striker Ruud van Nistelrooy today.
Midfielder Carrick has yet to agree personal terms with United but the England World Cup man will double his wages by signing a £50,000-a-week contract to move to Old Trafford. United made their first move for Carrick, 25 today, last month.
But their £10m bid was instantly rejected by Spurs, who told United to double their offer for the holding midfielder.
Boss Fergie refused to chuck in the towel after identifying Carrick as the man to finally fill the hole left by Roy Keane’s departure last season. A bid of £10m plus John O’Shea in part-exchange was also turned down.
Now Fergie has persuaded his board to raise their offer to £14.5m and Spurs have agreed to cash in after Carrick made it clear he wanted to join United.
Carrick, a £2.75m buy from West Ham in 2004, has been stalling on Spurs’ offer of a new £45,000-a-week contract
