Considering they are both fully fit who would u rather have partner rio in central defense and why??
My pick would be brown for two reasons:
1) He is english. And his being english along with rio will improve their understanding and communication with each other. Both of which are important if two players are to forge a formiddible centre back pairing.
2) He has played with rio for years in the premeirship and in europe and his experience in both cups will be invaluable.
However if brown gets unlucky again and gets injured then its good to know that vidic will be a top class replacement.

as of now gary neville on the right and heinze on the left are guaranteed barring injury or suspension their starting spots along with rio ferdinand as a CB.
The only question is will brown who was spectacular last season continue to be first choice or will Ferguson turn to Vidic who is more physically imposing and more of a no-nonsense back.
I think Vidic will be with Rio, Brown has mistakes and these mistakes will let him out.

I feel that Vidic is a slightly better defender than Brown..although this one is a close one to call!

Vidic, Gazza and Heinze.... that is a slooooow and cumbersome unit. Throw in Rio's concentration, and Heinze's positioning and you've got the makings of a horror movie against an opponent with any sort of pace and movement.
I honestly don't see how we can get away with playing all three of them together in a back four on a regular basis... it will certainly be asking for trouble if the opposition has even a modicum of ambition. I really feel it will be a case of Vidic or Heinze, and that is half the reason we signed Evra.

I think you are being extremely harsh on heinze. He has pace and stamina, his positioning generally is very good except for the occacional laspe from set pieces.Evra loses the ball way too much and doesn't offer much going forward unlike heinze who constantly makes runs forward and tracks back. Rio didn't make one mistake last year that i can recall.

I havent seen much of Vidic to be sure how well he will do with Rio. At the moment I see Brown as a better defender.

Wes Brown, i see vidic on 4 occasions last season and was not to impressed im shore in time he will get better and better but at the moment Brown has the pace, power and heading ability and is a all round better defender
so wes Brown

Wes Brown, no doubt in my mind. Brown is a fantastic defender and I'm sure he'd be way up in the England pecking order if it weren't for the injuries that he's suffered over his career. SR has a good point - Vidic and Gazza are slow, and Heinze isn't that much quicker.
And let's not forget that many games in this era of football are won through set pieces. Bolton are perhaps an example of a team that takes advantage of this to such a high degree.
Wes Brown for me too, but he really needs to sort out his fitness issues. Vidic on the other hand looks a solid, hard tackling and no-nonsense defender. It'd be interesting to see him in his first full season in England and how he copes with it.
