Van Der Sar Ready For Comeback

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has declared himself fit for the
weekend fixture against Aston Villa after three weeks on the sidelines.

The Dutch veteran has missed United’s last two games after injuring his toe
during the tire against Birmingham City last month.

Although the 36-year-old was named in Holland’s squad for the recent Euro 2008
qualifiers, he failed to recover in time.

However, van der Sar has confirmed he is now fully fit and should replace Tomasz
Kuszczak against Aston Villa as United look to extend a six-match winning streak
in the Premier League in which time they have not conceded a goal.

"I feel good," he said. "I went away with the national team last week because I
felt I could have played on the Saturday.

"Unfortunately, the progress was not quick enough. There was no point in taking
a risk and aggravating it, so I decided not to play and focus on this game instead.

"I am not worried about my foot because overall, I have not had many injuries,"
he continued.

"It is strange to go a couple of weeks without playing, so I am looking forward to
being involved again.

"When you are injured you have to work harder than when you are fit. That is
why everyone wants to get back as quickly as possible and feel part of the team."

If he isn't ready don't play him.

I think VDS has looked (only slightly) dodgy recently. Our back 4 have been the main reason for our clean sheets i feel. This is the main reason for posting my thread about Thomas.

If he is injured i really wouldn't play him yet. He is a really great keeps, one of the best in the world without a doubt, if he aint ready i wouldn't want him between the posts.

If we drop points cos of a VDS keeping error i'll be very gutted this wkd!

I think he should rest for this game...we shouldn't take the risk..and besides..Tomsz has been pretty solid replacing him
