The sports minister, Gerry Sutcliffe, has labelled John Terry's salary "obscene" and accused Manchester United of setting ticket prices prohibitively high, claiming such moves took the game away from "ordinary working people."

"Good luck to John Terry but I think it is obscene to be on £150,000 a week," said Sutcliffe. "People in the street cannot understand salaries like that.

Chelsea are £250m in the red and they may be able to cope with that but it's not the real world. £250m in the red is not sustainable."

"and accused Manchester United of 1,setting ticket prices prohibitively high". Its usual for ppl to take digs at our club isnt it ? He criticises Uniteds ticket prices when 2, Arsenals cost almost triple our prices and 7 other clubs cost more than Uniteds =/

1. Quite true as the average man in the street cannot afford the tickets prices.

2. Complete rubbish.

.Quote...

"This year Manchester United increased their season tickets by 13% and said fans
have to automatically buy European and Carling Cup games as well and that
costs an extra £200.

"That's taking the game away from the ordinary grass-roots supporter."

He added: "Ordinary working people who want go and see Manchester United
face being priced out."

100% true, Thousands have already been priced out,

Yes, just look at our lazy, no gooder, waste of space, money grabbing Taoiseach called Bertie Ahern.

310,000 a year now - recently 38,000 pay rise! FOR WHAT!

The Irish go on about him, and still they vote him back in. If I didn't know any better I'd almost say people do it for the craic!
