Fergie Tips Hughes' Rovers To Break Into Top Four
Devils boss labels Blackburn chief a 'rottweiler'
By James Dall
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes Blackburn Rovers have the
potential to break into the top four of the Premier League.
Mark Hughes' side are currently sixth in the table, have gone six games unbeaten
and make the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are considered England's big
four, however Ferguson is sure that under Mark Hughes' management Rovers
can make the step up.
"I think they can. What they've shown at the moment is that no one turns them
over," he told The Sun.
Handful
"They've drawn with Arsenal and Liverpool at home and even going away they're
a handful."
Ferguson pinpointed Hughes' leadership skills, and praised the manner at which
he has assembled his squad since taking over in 2004.
"What Mark's done there is absolutely tremendous. The good thing Mark Hughes
has done is kept a sense of continuity at the club," he added.
"He seems to have kept the side together for three or four years, which gives
them the experience of playing together and also a good team spirit, which
makes them difficult to play against.
Aggression and determination
"I think teams reflect their managers and you see that with Mark Hughes and
Blackburn.
"He's got that aggression and determination. He was always a determined
player.
"He was a rottweiler on the pitch, a real warrior. But off it you couldn't find a
quieter guy.
"It was like a split-personality thing. Put him on the pitch and he was a totally
different character."
