French Ace To Sign
Patrice Evra is set to sign a new two-year contract extension at Manchester
United to tie him to the club until 2012.
The French full-back is set to follow team-mate Nemanja Vidic by committing
himself to the club for a further two seasons over the course of the international
break.
Evra, signed from Monaco for £5.5million, is settled in Manchester and playing
some of the best football of his career this season - leading to some suggestions
he could be a contender for the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.
The 26-year-old is in the France squad for next week's matches against Morocco
and Ukraine but will find time to pen the new deal, which will put him into the
second tier of United's pay structure, behind the club's top earners Wayne
Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez. www.football.co.uk
