Giggs Eyes 'Brilliant' Charlton Record
Manchester United winger Ryan is looking ahead to breaking Sir Bobby Charlton's
record of 759 caps for the club.
Charlton played 759 games for the Old Trafford club in a mammoth 17 year spell
from 1956 to 1973, during which he won the European Cup once.
Giggs has numbers which are very similar: he is in his 18th season with the club,
has won one Champions League trophy, and has 732 appearances thus far for
the Red Devils.
He can well get those final 27 caps this season, and is looking forward to it.
“To play so many games for the club you’ve supported and pass the total of
probably the greatest player this club’s ever had would be brilliant," he said.
“I don’t really like talking about it until it happens but as the landmark is getting
closer it’d be great to do it.”
Of course, he does not have to do it this year, as he has another season to run
on his deal: “It means I can just get on with my football and, hopefully, play
well.”
