I feel sorry for Bruce because Carson Yeung clearly wasnt going to give Brucie the contract he deserved at Birmingham. He did a great job there and was clearly about to be shafted so I hope he goes to Wigan and does a good job there. In some peoples eyes maybe its a step down but Brucie never shirked a challenge in his life and Im sure he can do well at Wigan and keep them in the Premier League.

I am not sure if it is a step down wigan may have less fans than birmingham but it is a club with a plan and a future. If they back bruce like they say they are going to i think he can save them from relegation and take them onto better things.

I don't fully understand the motives for this move unless Bruce has been given a sufficient transfer budget as imho Wigan are not much better than Birmingham. if better at all.

It is an £8m contract from what I've heard and, although Whelan is a very rich man, he is no longer the owner of JJB Sports. He sold his stake in the company and quit the board in June.
The main reason Bruce quit was probably job security. Carson Yeung will be taking over Birmingham City soon and there has been a lot of speculation about whether Bruce would keep his job.
