United Eye £8m-Rated Scots Ace

Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly looking to take Glasgow Rangers' £8million-rated
defender Alan Hutton to Manchester United.

The 22-year-old Scotland international has been one of the rising stars in Walter
Smith's side at Ibrox and has been attracting plenty of interest from south of the
border. Liverpool and Arsenal are also reportedly looking at Hutton, but United
appear to lead the queue and could be prepared to make a big money bid.

Ferguson is aware that Gary Neville is set to turn 33 in February and he would
like more competition in the backline for when the England international hangs
up his boots.

The News of the World claims United will offer around £8million for Hutton which
would be a huge carrot for Rangers, despite only tying the player down to a new
five-year contract in the summer. www.clubcall.com

i realy don't understand...Neville will be back from injury and hope he doesn't get another one to soon. Then we have cover for Neville, and you all know i mean Brown. He's done a great job in the absence of Neville. And of course to say it like this, as a cover for Brown we have our young Simpson. He showed in the few matches he played that he is capable of being part of the Man Utd squad. He's young and in my opinion he's the next Gary Neville:)...we don't need to buy somebody else:)

This boy was immense against Italy, they struggled to stop him when he went forward!

He's also been in decent form all season for Rangers.

Hutton really seems a prospect. Great engine, determination, 2 footed as well. I was surprised to hear he is only 22. He would be a great buy for any team. He is playing qualiy for Rangers and his performances for Scotland have been nearly heroic. If Neville fails to get back to where he once was the Hutton cold be a future rb for United. Simpson might have a bit to say about it though as will Neville who should have another few years left in him still.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing an £8 million bid for Rangers fullback Alan Hutton.
Scotland on Sunday says reports earlier in the week linked the Scotland defender, who has flourished under Walter Smith in the past 12 months at Ibrox, with a move to Spurs.
But, with Ferguson in search of a long-term replacement for Gary Neville at right-back, Hutton will choose Old Trafford over White Hart Lane. It is understood the Premiership champions have already made contact with Rangers and Hutton's representatives. A deal is expected to be struck in the next fortnight.
