Bolton 1 Manchester United 0

Man of the Match: Nicolas Anelka 8/10 - Scored the only goal, one of only two
chances he had

Sir Alex Ferguson was sent to the stands as title-chasing Manchester United
crashed to their first defeat since August.

Ferguson was dismissed by referee Mark Clattenburg for a half-time tunnel rant
at a succession of minor decisions that had gone against his team.

And the United manager's mood could not have been improved by the sight of his
side losing at Bolton for the first time since Dec 1978, nor the fact the
matchwinner, Nicolas Anelka, was a man he has tried to buy himself on several
occasions.

Not that Gary Megson will be too bothered about that as his first win as Bolton
manager swept his new side out of the relegation zone for virtually the first time
this season.

Moment of the Match: Although there was an involuntary contribution from United
towards the only goal of the game, it was a neat piece of skill from the Bolton
match winner Nicolas Anelka. When Ivan Campo stepped up to take a free-kick
after 11 minutes, the Frenchman appeared to be well shackled by Gerard Pique,
standing in for the injured Nemanja Vidic. Inexplicably the Spanish defender
chose to take a step forward, the ball sailed over his head and the former
Arsenal striker was left to chest it down and shoot home on the turn without any
interference.
