McIlroy: Fergie Wants Euro Crown

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy believes Sir Alex Ferguson will not retire until he
has overtaken Sir Matt Busby and secured 25 years in the job.

Ferguson, who turns 66 on December 31, recently celebrated the 21st
anniversary of his reign at Old Trafford.

But Manchester United legend McIlroy, 53, says Ferguson's insatiable hunger for
the job and desire to deliver an elusive second European Cup will keep him in the
hot seat for a few years yet.

McIlroy, who was Busby's last signing at United, said: "Sir Alex is one of the
greatest managers ever and of course he wants another European Cup.

"United have won two, the same as Nottingham Forest, but Liverpool have won it
five times, which is hard for everyone at United to take.

"I think Sir Alex will go on for another few years until he wins the Champions
League again and possibly reaches the 25-year mark to overtake Sir Matt as
United's longest-serving manager. That wouldn't surprise me at all."
