I have followed with interest the story of English language teacher Gillian Gibbons
in Sudan.
She was teaching children aged 5 and 6 English language.
They had a teddy bear as a class mascot and asked the children what name they
could give to this teddy bear.
After some voting and choosing the children say they like the name Mohammed
and Gillian said this is ok......teddy is now called Mohammed.
Now the government of Sudan is very mad and upset - she has used the name of
the prophet Mohammed to name a teddy bear !!! :eek:
This is so bad she is now in jail for 15 days !
It's an insult to the Muslim religion apparently !!
Is this the same Sudanese government who finance the Janjaweed (devil's on
horseback) - the warlords - who terrorise, rape and murder women and little children in
Sudan....Darfur ?
Is this the same Sudanese government who innocently purchase civil helicopters
and aircraft - then paint them white so they are hard to spot in the desert as
they fly into Darfur to drop explosives on the refugees of Darfur to destroy their
homes ?
Is this the same Sudanese Government who accepts foreign aid from all around
the world to aid Darfur - and then steals it to live their own lives of luxury ?
Yes ... they are one in the same !!
But hey..........
At least they put a stop to the absurd naming of a little teddy bear for those
children :mad:
