In my innocence, 'panoramic' meant grand and beautiful…..

Scenic and awe-inspiring ...

Breath-taking and majestic.

Surely a panoramic view of genocide and rape......

Of the murder, hunger and cruelty of Darfur can be none of these things.....

BUT I LOOK ANYWAY !!!!

It is, after all, only the aftermath of the unspeakable ... it is dirt, dust, desolation
and despair.

Small make-shift shelters barely offering protection from the sun ... let alone from
those who want to rape and degrade before they annihilate and eredicate.

GRAND ?

Yes of course ... the numbers of those killed reaching 1,900,000 today,
that’s pretty GRAND !!

BEAUTIFUL ?

Incredibly so ...What else can you see in the beautiful face of Hadida ?

SCENIC ?

Oh yes ... for sure ... but only scenes too too powerful and haunting to bear !!!

AWE INSPIRING ?

The Darfurians non-stop fight for survival inspires me YES IT DOES !!

BREATH-TAKING ?

If the fact that the realization of 'ethnic cleansing' took my breath away then
YES ... BREATH-TAKING !!!

MAJESTIC ?

Before the burning of villages ... bombing of water sources and the destruction of
farms and peoples livelihoods.........YES VERY MAJESTIC !!!!

Who sits in those huts in the refugee camps ?

It could be said 'the lucky ones'. Those who MIGHT survive, whose children ...
malnourished and terrorized ... MIGHT recover ... one day !!!!

(Let's not even think about what recovery means to these unwilling witnesses).

If anyone ... EVERYONE ... who will not tolerate this cruelty and demands
that it stop ... demands that their governemnt bring safety, bring food, bring
water, bring compassion and a little love RIGHT NOW !!!!!........then maybe
they will recover, MAYBE ..

IF WE GAVE OUR OWN ATTENTION, TIME AND RESOURCES NOW.....

MAYBE RECOVERY .....OF A KIND ... WILL COME.

BUT WILL WE EVER RECOVER FROM OUR COMPLICITY OF SILENCE ????

OUR SILENCE AT BEING TOO LATE FOR THE 1,900,000 ???

I RATHER THINK WE WILL NOT RECOVER ... WELL ... THOSE OF US WHO GIVE A
SH*T WONT !!!!!!!!

I know what you mean, but evry now and then when you see people standing outside your local shops asking for money to support there charities, how about you give them a pound, euro...etc.....

yeh man, no doubt, im sure ive given away at least a 100 or couple o hundred quid to homeless people, ive actually learnt its better to give them food, like buy a couple o oranges or apples or sumink, at least then you know what there gonna do wit it, unless things have changed and you can buy smack with fruit. have donated 2000 grains o rice, thereabouts

My family adopted small boy from Uganda several years ago. His name is Richard. We pay for his education, clothing etc.

He likes the English language the most!!:)

but all im saying about problems abroad is what on earth can i do, or any other single person, i suppose marching to scrap the 3rd world debt is one thing, but will that ever work, tis kinda forgotten now everyones got back to living there cushty lives

Many, many people say to me......

"But what can I do ?"......

Then they turn away - walk away - and forget about it.

They can't take time to investigate and see what they can do - find out how they
can help - research a little.......

But why should they.......

All this stuff happens 1000s of miles away anyway and no one is compelled to do
this.

But your heart is in the right place Mr Bertie :)

And for someone your age I am impressed - no offence to 16 year olds but it is
rare to see in someone so young.
