Youtube "comments"

As a lot of you probably guess I spend quite a lot of my life, ahem, spare time on youtube..........and it's worth it........

However one thing that strikes me is the nature of some of the comments left by people and that they are allowed to post such material......

There also doesn't seem to be a moderate option for disgraceful language et....

lol....even on porno forums they usually have moderate options.........not that i'd be aware of that......:o

Anyway this is a comment which was left in relation to one of the Greatest Singers, Greatest Bands, and Greatest song of all time......Freddy Mercury and Queen......we are the champions

this is the comment that was left..........

"Sucking another mans **** isn't being a champion. Bending over to receive a ***** up the ass isn't being a champion. Freddie Mercury wasn't a champion as he lost out to AIDS.

Leave Queen to the queers..."


I do not understand why youtube do not remove stuff like this........I see it a lot on the site............

It made me sick..........Anyway.....Freddy Mercury is a legend and one of the, if not the greatest entertainer of all time......:)

That's a hilarious comment! But I agree, sometimes they do I think, but it would be very hard for them to monitor so many comments?

There is a moderate option, but it's very simple and doesn't really serve the purpose it should! There are buttons on each comment for you to give "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" for each comment, if a few "thumbs down" buttons are pressed then the comment will be hidden and for you to view it you have to press the "show" button. In my opinion youtube does need moderation, however....for the sheer volume of videos posted on youtube, there would need to be an enormous amount of people employed/used by youtube to "police" their pages. Then you would have to ensure that every moderator is in fact moderate and unbiased, which in my opinion is near impossible! Also their is probably youtube's probable answer to such calls for moderation: which might be that they are allowing free speech and for the internet to be truly neutral for each and every person, whatever their point of view. I agree with what you say about comments like that but I think it would be almost impossible to have actual moderators on there :(

Have to agree, I don't like his type of music at all!! But Bohemian Rhapsody is pure genius and revolutionised the concept of music videos

but that comment is just damn right disgusting and you tell by how it is written that a lot of thought went into it...............i gave it a thumbs down........:)

So I wrote to Youtube 4 timesexplaining all this to them - they are American after all and maybe dont know this is wrong.

No answer and no action !!
