Wayne Rooney could have to find himself a new agent in the New Year after the
final obstacle to Paul Stretford's disciplinary case was removed.
In June 2005, the Football Association charged Stretford with offences relating to
how he came to represent the England and Manchester United star.
Since then, Stretford and his legal team have been unsuccessfully challenging the
fairness of the FA's disciplinary processes, claiming they breach his human rights,
reports the Daily Mirror.
But now an independent arbitrator has ruled that his case should be heard
before any further debate about the system. The charges allege that Stretford
broke FIFA agent regulations and FA rules by, among other things, poaching
Rooney from his original agent, Peter McIntosh.
If found guilty, Stretford is likely to have his licence suspended.
McIntosh said: "We will help the FA any way we can and hopefully they will do
what should have been done five years ago."
