Reports suggest that Manchester United have opted to buy Manucho Goncalves, the 24-year-old Angolan striker...
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2015/2349539337_6f25b20e63.jpg
Angolan international strike Manucho Goncalves has allegedly impressed Manchester United during his three week Old Trafford trial to such an extent that the Red Devils are determined to sign him.
The Petro de Luanda forward is expected to pen a four-year deal in England, although according to the Angolan Press Agency, work permit concerns could potentially make this difficult.
Manucho, 24, does not have the required number of caps for the Angolan national side, the Palancas Negras, and as such an appeal will be required.
However, United were successful in landing Brazilian wunderkind Anderson in this way, so not all hope is lost for Manucho.
Alternatively, the forward could be transferred to a Portuguese club as part of a loan deal to ease his transition to European football both on the pitch and off.
The player is expected to arrive in Europe in February after the conclusion of the African Cup of Nations.

Great news. He obviously has something special to get signed. i know nothing about him and have never seen him play but the versatile forward will soon join up with the Angolan national squad for the African Cup of Nations as he looks to add to the one goal that he scored in qualifying.

Man Utd to seek Sporting Lisbon help over Goncalves signing
Manchester United may 'park' new Angolan signing Manucho Goncalves at Portugal?s Sporting Lisbon.
United are understood to have agreed a deal with Petro de Luanda for Goncalves after the striker enjoyed successful trials in England earlier this month.
Goncalves doesn't have enough caps with Angola to qualify for a work permit and could be placed at Sporting on-loan to gain his European passport. The forward is expected to sign a four-year contract with United.

Boss reveals new signing
United has reached agreement with Petro Athletico of Luanda to sign Mateus Alberto Contreiras Goncalves – "Manucho."
The 24-year-old Angolan international striker, who has scored twice in 10 appearances for his country, has agreed personal terms and will join the Club in January on a 3-year agreement. An application for a work permit will be made in due course.
He was top goalscorer in the last two seasons of the GiraBola, finishing with 16 goals for Petro Luanda in 2006 and 15 goals this year. Manucho will be part of the Angolan squad for the African Nations Cup in January.
Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted by the new arrival, saying: “We have had Manucho here for a 3-week trial and have been impressed enough to offer him a 3-year contract.
"He is a tall, agile and quick forward and through contacts that Carlos [Queiroz] has was brought to our attention around six months ago.”

It all depends on how he adjusts to the Premiership and if he really has the technical ability to compete in England.....
He may be strong and fast and have a good scoring record in his current league but to suceed over here and in the CL you need the natural touch and awareness and ability....
I still wonder how Fergie and co ever thought DjembeDjembe or Kleberson would ever make it in the Premiership.....
But I think Fergie has learned his lesson from then and he would not have signed this lad if he was not certain that he is the real deal and will improve our team.....

Dream come true for United new boy
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k211/small_carly/manucho_goncalves_614811.jpg
Manucho Goncalves has told of his delight at signing for Manchester United but Sir
Alex Ferguson expects the new boy will need time to adjust.
The Angola international signed a three-year contract with United before
Christmas after impressing during a three-week trial.
He is expected to link up with his Old Trafford team-mates after the African Cup of
Nations, providing he secures a work permit.
The imposing striker admits his dream has become a reality and is looking forward
to playing for the Red Devils.
"I have been a fan of Manchester United from when I was very young, so now I
will work very hard to get into the first team," Manucho told MUTV.
"I am very happy to be here and I have worked very hard to make my dream a
reality.
"I have found the adaptation easy because all the players have given me their
support... and players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson all speak my
language."
Though he is not expected to feature in the team this season, United boss Sir
Alex Ferguson is keeping an open mind.
Ferguson said: "I think he'll need a few months to adjust. In saying that, he's
done very well in training and you never know how players will progress.
"I said the same thing about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when he arrived. I thought I'd
give him a year or two in the reserves, but after three or four games he was in
the first team.
"It all boils down to the boy himself, how he adapts to the change and how he
commits himself to learning. Every young player has to learn."

Why is there so much non Manucho related stuff on this thread? Can the random posts be deleted please? Anyway back to the man himself:
New United signing Manucho was on target for Angola as they continue their preparations for the African Nations Cup later this month.
The 24-year-old striker, who impressed on a three-week trial late last year, must wait to be granted a work permit before being allowed to complete his move to Old Trafford.
The Angolan forward struck the only goal of the friendly match against Dutch side Willem II in Portugal on Sunday.
Angola play Egypt in Lisbon on Thursday in their next warm-up match before their opening game African Nations Cup against South Africa in Tamale on 23 January.

It was quite an entertaining game last night. I missed the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half though because I lost the signal for British Eurosport.
Manucho was pretty quiet for the first 20 minutes - he barely touched the ball.
In the 30th minute though he scored the opener with a terrific diving bullet header. The commentator described it as a 'Roy of the Rovers type' goal. It was impressive how much power he got behind it.
After the goal he was obviously more confident and started to get more involved in the game. He showed some nice skills with a couple of flicks and a great bit of play in the 2nd half when he jinked past 2 defenders and laid the ball off for a teammate.
He held up the ball pretty well under pressure for the most part but I was a bit disappointed with how he was brushed off the ball on a couple of occasions.
Towards the end he seemed to be finding good positions in between the South African defenders but his teammates usually struggled to find him or passed it to someone else. When they did find him he had a couple of shots that were way off target.
He showed he's not afraid to do a bit of defending at times either with a brilliant goal line clearnace that kept his side in the lead.
South Africa scored a late equaliser (a stunning left foot shot from outside the box which found the top right hand corner) so Manucho's goal just earned his team a draw in the end.
On first impressions I've seen enough to think he can give United a real aerial presence in the opposition box, his positional sense is good, he can hold up the ball for us and he has the skills and passing ability to be an asset for the team.
However, shooting practice from outside the box would not go amiss and he needs to be more tenacious when trying to keep the ball at times.

great..thanks reddwarf........if he does improve his shooting,do you think he can be a starter for us????????
I think he'll be introduced into the team pretty slowly. Probably from the bench at first when we need to change our style of play during a game e.g. when Fergie wants to introduce more long balls or wing attacks with crosses into the box.
Saha gives us the option of a long ball behind the opposition defence whereas Manucho will give us the option of a long ball in front of the defence - for him to hold up or flick on.
Rooney and Tevez are not much of an aerial threat in the opposition box but Manucho will give us that.
I'm optimistic about his chances - he looks a much better option than Dong anyway!!!

from bbc...
1807: GOAL Senegal 1-1 Angola
Manchester United bound Manucho draws his side level with a powerful header. A great cross by Ze Kalanga is met superbly by the striker who gives the goalkeeper no chance.
1812: "MANUCHO...he's going to light up the Premier League!"
1824: GOAL Senegal 1-2 Angola
A terrible error from Senegal's keeper gifts Manucho his second goal. Sylva's attempts to punch the ball clear but it hits Manucho and after a scramble he's on hand to tap the ball in. Seems like Sir Alex Ferguson has found a little gem.
This all sounds amazing. Is he now the top scorer in the ACON.
