Real Madrid to try to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

MADRID - Spanish champions Real Madrid are prepared to pay up to 70 million
euros (102.59 million dollars) for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

This is the front-page claim made on Saturday by sports daily AS.

The Portuguese star is under contract at Old Trafford until 2012, but AS claims
that Cristiano Ronaldo could buy up his contract for 70 million euros, a sum that
Real president Ramon Calderon is prepared to pay to lure him to Madrid.

AS claims that Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted on this ‘buy-out clause’ in his
contract because his is ‘so enthusiastic’ about playing for Real one day, and
quotes the 23 year-old winger as saying that ‘I would love to play in Spain.’

The report claims that Calderon is keen to liven up Bernd Schuster’s hard-working
team - which is seven points clear at the top of La Liga - with a ‘media star’, and
is now resigned to the fact that AC Milan will not sell Kaka, the player he
promised to the fans in the 2006 presidential elections at Real.

The newspaper selling trick works everytime.

At the same time "The meringue" wants to buy Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Maicon from Inter Milan for another fantasy sum and break the previous transfer record. The only one getting a new record is the newspapers. Merry Christmas to them!

Guys Im sorry to say this and it hurts me. But, Ronaldo will not be at man utd next year. I know people deeply involved in Real Madrid and this will happen - definitely!!!! I know we are going to try and convince ourselves and hold on to some hope but its no coincidence that he has been saying his dream would be to play in La Liga since he came to Man utd. And now look at what Sir Alex has just said. Who do you think he was referring to? You make your minds up. Read this http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1778_3011552,00.html

Listen as you obviously understand i cannot say this. You dont have to believe me. Im telling you. Im not very happy at the moment because im a man utd fan all the way. Im not from the UK and i know many people in Real Madrids directive. I cannot, and i stress i CANNOT reveal who this was. It would be stupid for me to do so and im sure you know i cannot.

He will be Real Madrid player but in 4 years. I dont think that he will leave this glory to go to Spain. He is the best Manchester United player at this moment and in Spain he will be on of the best players.

i agree. He is the best player in the premiership by a mile. He could be a man utd legend if he were to stay with us. Most players in Spain end up ruining their careers. The lifestyle here in Spain is different

If/when he does go....

Always remember United will still be great and United will still be the best....

No one player is bigger than United.....

SAF has sold players and I sometimes though he was mad at the time - but
despite the loss of these players - we still carried on !!
