Was dandering around town yesterday shopping and thought i'd buy myself a new 360 game... saw Kane and Lynch on sale for £29.99 and thought to myself " what a steal" .

Later that night i came home, sat down to play it when i discovered my Xbox was showing three red light instead of the usual green. .

I went online to check it out and apparently 35% of all xbox 360's will at some point need repair due to hardware failure:mad: .

I found out my Xbox's original warranty had ran out but was relieved when the tech on the phone told me Microsoft had put and extended warranty of 3 years onto it.

Just waiting for a guy to come out- pick it up and ship it off for repair.. might take up to 3 weeks.

Also wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this? and if not watch out for it!

RED LIGHT OF DEATH.

Your fault for buying an inferior machine tbh.

I only tolerate PS3's as they have some excellent PS3 only games, but 360 owners have no excuse, all 360 games come out on PC, WHICH IS SUPERIOR!!!!

I don't think anyone who's Xbox showed the red lights was to know that after a year of buying the machine it would break down just because it was inferior to the PS3.

The Xbox 360 in my opinion is a better console because of the online experience and the games released for it.
ONLY FAULT BEING
Microsoft f**ked up by rushing the consoles out in time for christmas when they should have fixed the problem there and then before release, and for that i curse them.

I had my 360 from launch at so far its still ok, although i know a few people who have had the ring of death.

Still think its a great console and gives hours of enjoyment, its the xbox live service that gives it the edge in my opinion

I've had my 360 for 12 months and haven't had a problem yet.

I read a couple of the XBOX magazines and there's been quite a lot of complaints about hardware failures.

Unlucky mate - I hope it's returned to you soon so you can carry on gaming!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Spoke too bloody soon. I had a hardware failure on Saturday and the warranty ran out in November. £65 to get it fixed

Dwarf, thats unlucky.

Dont get it fixed, buy a PS3. HD-DVD is more or less dead. Blu-Ray is the way forward. ;)

I got a premium Xbox the week after they first came out never had a problem with it once! So decided to get the Elite last year, still yeet to have any problems.
Love playing on Live though ****ting the yanks on CoD 4 or Fifa/PES

Anyone got live ?

PS3 = ****!

People make out it's great cause of Blu Ray and Free Online play..

Fookin assed! I'd prefere to pay £40 (rather than bein a cheapo) for something that is well known to be better and more fun and also presented much nicer on the dashboard.
As for Blue Ray, it's the same as HD apart from the Blue Ray disks are more expensive!

1) The PS3 is not ****.

2)Game designers have hardly scratched the surface for what the PS3 can do, where some games on the Xbox are already nearly pushing it to its limits.

3) The PS3 is ALOT more reliable. Before MS had to release the new Xbox, the Xbox 360 had a failure rate of like 30%, the PS3 had a failure rate of UNDER 1%.

4) Online play? Xbox wins that for now, but when Home comes out the PSN will be just as good as Xbox Live and as you said its FREE!

5)Blu-Ray holds soooooo much more than an HD-DVD. If it was just the same as HD-DVD but more expensive why are more or less ALL of the big companys like Walt Disney etc going Blu-Ray exclusive? HD-DVD is nearly finished and its only been out for a shortwhile lmao.

Just wait till the PS3 exclusives start coming out thick and fast, you'll wish you waited.

Looks like you're the man in the know...

Toshiba has said it will stop making its high definition DVDs, ending a battle with rival format Blu-ray over which would be the industry standard.

Following a review of its business, Toshiba said it would stop production of HD DVD players and recorders.

The HD DVD format has suffered as major US film studios backed the Blu-ray format, which is being developed by electronics firm Sony and partners.

RED LIGHT OF DEATH

So Microsoft graduated from the Blue Screen of Death to the Red Light of Death. Kudos to those guys for the progress :D :D

A good way of testing if you have got an Infected Xbox.

I've heard that the infection can be quite painfull though so having a wee might hurt for a while.

Sure it's nothing that some anti-biotics can't sort out.

I am having an absolute nightmare with my xbox 360.

It started saying that all my discs were unplayable (even the new ones) so I sent it in for repair. The day after I got it back from the repair centre the motherboard failed. They replaced the motherboard and I got it back last week and on Monday it started saying all my discs were unplayable again so I have to send it back AGAIN!

On the brightside I've been offered a free wireless controller and 2 free games as compensation, which pretty much covers the £65 I had to fork out for repairs because it was 4 months out of warranty.

PS3!!!!

If you get one now, you'll hhave it just in time for the games like GTA:IV, GT, MGS 4, Haze etc etc ;)

Also.........I wouldnt waste your money on anything for your Xbox now.

Microsoft are trying to agree a deal with Sony to allow MS to fit Blu-Ray players into the Xbox 360 (as HD-DVD is like dead) so whats the point in spending £100's on stuff for the Xbox when they're more than likely to bring out another  Xbox soon.

I still have my launch xbox 360 and I love it, also all my friends and their friends all seem to have one rather then a PS3, which obviously means I have more friends on Xbox Live to play against then I would on the playstation.

Maybe in a year or so something will happen to make me get a ps3 , but im still waiting, MGS4 isnt enough to justify £300 on a new console
