Keane Adds To His United Haul
Sunderland boss Roy Keane has bolstered his burgeoning contingent of ex
-Manchester United players with the signing of defender Phil Bardsley in a deal
worth up to £2 million.
Bardsley, who has agreed a three-and-a-half year contract with The Black Cats,
has spent spells on loan with Sheffield United and Aston Villa this season and
last.
The 22-year-old, who made eight Premier League appearances for United, is the
eighth player signed by Keane with Old Trafford connections.
He is the third addition to the manager's squad this month, with another United
man, Johnny Evans, and Paris Saint Germain Jean Yves M'voto also
supplementing Sunderland's ranks.
"We needed to strengthen our defence and Phil is a good addition to the squad,"
said Keane.
Bardsley added: "Sunderland have a fantastic manager who has given me the
chance to come here and play. I'm delighted, it's a massive club and a good
