Man Utd and Arsenal in battle for young players
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been World known for his great nose to
pick up the best young talents in football. Sir Alex Ferguson has shown over the
years that they also knows their trade when it comes to bringing forward young
players
During the January transfer window both clubs battled for the signature of
Gillingham youngster Luke Freeman. The 15 year old went to Arsenal, and not
Man Utd.
This week Arsene Wenger admitted that he was close to signing Christiano
Ronaldo, just months before he joined Man Utd. The player had been eyed by
Wenger, but the move never came about.
Man Utd's relationship with Ronaldo's former club Sporting was, according to
Wenger, the reason why Ronaldo went to Old Trafford.
Players such as Guiseppe Rossi, Gerard Pique, Jon Spector, Darren Fletcher are
just four examples of great young talents coming up from the Man Utd academy.
If we go back a few years we all know that David Beckham, Gary and Phil Neville,
Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, John O'Shea and Wes Brown are other great names
coming up from the youth ranks at the club.
The signing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also shows that Sir Alex might find talents
where no other have looked.
Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex both knows their trade and both clubs are fantastic
in bringing in the right types when they see them.
Luke Freeman joined Arsenal, so did Theo Wallcot. But there are great youngsters
at Man Utd as well, and we have to wait a few seasons before a new generation
of great Man Utd talent will shine at Old Trafford.
Some say that Arsenal are front runners in bringing in new young talent, but we
believe that Man Utd are as good if you look at their track record over the last 10
or 15 years. www.soccervision.com
